Curly Redwood Lodge

"Curly Redwood Lodge is where I lodged the most over 10 years. My rating is on value and not fancy doo-dads. Yes, there are not "AC" units but average summer high in Crescent City is about 65 degrees F. Maybe a few rooms will get AC. They have heat and that's all I ever need. Most rooms are quite large. There's covered parking. Previous and new owners are diligent about maintenance / upgrades. There's great breakfast across the street. Several good restaurants within 2 minutes. And the redwood park barely 5 minutes away. People from other countries and states on my recommendation enjoyed this place too. Probably the best location of all for food and hiking redwoods because Crescent City is the best base for Redwood National and State Parks due to stores and restaurants. I'm adding photos of the beach, river, and forest from 1 to 10 minutes away. The scenic photos show why I recommend Crescent City and Curly Redwood Lodge is one of the best values in the midst of this area."

"This is a very carefully kept, vintage motel with spacious and comfortable rooms. We were in an ADA room and it was clear that the updates were carefully done to code. We were also grateful that the windows were good quality as we were a little nervous about the proximity to the highway but it didn't bother us at all. The heating works well and there's lots of hot water and good water pressure. The wifi satisfied my picky teenager. The restaurant across the street does a fabulous breakfast."

"Fires in the area. Firefighters had major hotels booked up. Curley inflated their prices significantly). . If you had a two bed room and used the second bed there was an ADDITIONAL CHARGE. There were 2 owners in reception . When asked about using the second bed one said $10 extra, the other said $20!! How’s that for customer relations! Quirks: Smaller TV on desk- No breakfast. Bed kind of crinkly sounding when moving around. Small shower. No a/c but crank open window. Asked about buying a postcard of motel. $3.00 was too much. Pluses- wood in and on motel was beautiful. Clean"

"I love the history and feel of the rooms, and it was fun and unique. The room we stayed in was the only one left with two queen beds in it, and in the middle of the night I started dreaming about musty mold spores. I must have chosen the wrong bed and side, because I was hacking and coughing for the next several days. I wonder if it was a seldom used room, but it needed some airing out for the bedding and carpet to be sure. The buildings and furniture were great despite that."
