"You have to fight the providers to have real issues called to attention. You don't really feel like they see you as a person just because you're indigenous. The things you're concerned about as a parent (things you see first hand) the non indigenous providers roll their eyes and make you feel bad for being worried. You have to have a third party professional write a referral with things the same things they observed to be taken seriously. It's terrible. We noticed from birth and told them our concerns for 2 and a half years! Now there's a potentially serious issue that probably could have been prevented."
