Reviews of Wheeler Gorge Nature Trail
"Becky and Bob are so great! Nicest camp hosts I've met. Campgrounds are large and well maintained, beautiful area"
"We had an amazing time here! Our site had a good amount of privacy, a fire pit, grill, picnic table, and easy access to the creek. A great "primitive" camping experience. The staff was very nice and helpful. The loop trail up the hill is a great hike, but does need to be more clearly marked (when you see marker #2, cross the river, lol it took us a minute to figure that out). The creek is beautiful, clear and cold. Perfect for getting refreshed. There is only one pool like area that goes knee deep, but there are plenty of places to sit and relax by the creek. Definitely will be returning!"
"All campsites are near the road, no bear boxes, no potable water on site, campsites are close to each other, many campers stay up late to party. Nearby nature trail is very short and currently very overgrown with poison oak. Not much else to do here. More bugs than any other campground I've visited due to the nearby Creek. Disorganized camp host. But the bathrooms were reasonably clean. I wound up cutting my trip a day short to just get outta there. Campsite #38"
"Love it! Clean, lots of activities! River fun! Bbq, fire pit! So much fun!"
"Nice campground with personable hosts who take great care of the property. Pit toilets are kept clean and not as smelly as you'd expect. We reserved site 68 but the host suggested 28 for us instead which cannot be pre-reserved and happened to be available. Right by the creek so we slept to the calming sounds of creek and crickets. Highway noise is a bit of a bummer but not enough of a deterrent to not come back. No running water so bring your own. We brought a propane firepit so we could still enjoy the comforts of camping and not disobey the fire restrictions."
