Reviews of The King Crab Shack
"I’m soooo mad y’all. I never had the king crab shack before. I’ve been all over the world and I always try seafood restaurants. I’m the seafood girl. This place was clean and in a good area but lord the food was sooo nasty. Frozen corn, cooked bag shrimp that was rubbery, green mussels rubbery, crab was dirty, everything was disgusting besides the potatoes. The sauce was horrible. Me and my kids are currently sick after this. Yesterday i should have took it back but I was afraid that they wouldn’t refund me so I took a lost. If y’all want some clean, fresh, flavored seafood boils hit me on instagram because this ain’t it. @Tan_tan_tan_tan"
"First time here. The service was decent. The food ordered was good (headless shrimp boil in cajun sauce, lobster tail boil in garlic butter sauce, fried seafood platter). The place was quite empty for it to be lunchtime. The food seemed pricey but could have been comparable. Dishes included styrofoam plates, plastic cup, and fork. I would go back but would recommend regular tableware especially for the money that's being spent. 2 people $71 before tip."
"My server was awesome, he was super nice and generous, def would come here againnn"
"I recently dined at The King Crab Shack with my mother and youngest son, and I must say my experience was a mix of excitement and surprise. I had been eagerly anticipating a delicious crab boil, and I chose to create my own with The House seasoning (lemon butter and Cajun mix) at medium spice. We also tried the fried seafood platter, shrimp egg rolls, and chicken tenders. First and foremost, the food arrived fresh and piping hot, which was impressive. My son's chicken tenders were quite standard for a seafood place, and the fries, although I'm not a fan of the double-crush style, were decent and my son enjoyed them. The fried seafood platter, featuring oysters, calamari, shrimp, and fish, was fried to perfection. I wasn't particularly fond of the oysters, but I'd consider substituting them if I return. As for the shrimp egg rolls, they tasted somewhat like store-bought frozen egg rolls, which was disappointing given my hopes for a richer Vietnamese flavor profile. Now, let's talk about the seafood boil. This is where my expectations fell short. While it was certainly edible and I managed to finish it, the flavor profile was more Asian than Cajun, reminiscent of a spicy bam bam sauce. It didn't align with what I had in mind for a traditional crab boil. Overall, The King Crab Shack offered fresh and hot seafood, with highlights being the perfectly fried seafood platter. However, the flavor profile of the seafood boil may not match traditional expectations. If you're in the mood for Asian-inspired seafood, it could still be worth a visit, but it might not satisfy those craving a classic Cajun crab boil."
"Thought we'd try out the King Crab Shack compared to the seafood boil downtown and the one in Brown Deer. Walking in they really fixed up the place from the old Perkins so I was pleased to see that. Lots of fun nautical theme items. They had live lobster in the tank on the way in too. We were seated after a couple of minutes. The receptionist was on the phone with a customer. They had Styrofoam plates, plastic cups, but real utensils. We got two boils, one was a shrimp without the heads and the other was crawfish. I threw in some sausage and my wife got some broccoli with hers. Everything came out quick and was really good. I didn't add any extra spice. I went mild on the shrimp, but my wife went medium on her crawfish. I did the lemon pepper and my wife did Cajun with the Crawfish, of course. I got a beer my wife got water. The shrimp with the heads off was rather reasonable for a pound and so was the crawfish. Some of their combos though I question what the value. Service was a bit lacking in that they never came back to ask how things were or refill the water. Rest of the place was nicely fixed up including the bathrooms. I'll definitely be back for some good Cajun and shrimp boil. They also had Vietnamese on the menu which I'll also be interested in trying next time I visit."
