Reviews of Knife Pleat
"This is a 1 star Michelin restaurant located in South Coast Plaza. We came here for afternoon tea, which comes with 7 savory items, 8 sweet items, and a choice of a tea. Cost is $115 plus 23% service charge and $5 order fee. The presentation of the tower for the afternoon tea items was beautiful! My favorites were the beet-cured salmon, Maine lobster eclair, and the chicken barquette. These were so flavorful! The Persian cucumber and radish & watercress were just ok - it had too much cream cheese/butter. The caviar deviled egg was solid, but wasn’t astounding. My least favorite was the truffle brie since I personally don’t like brie. The chocolate desserts were my fave! The other desserts tasted pretty standard. I tried the Phoenix Jasmine Pearls tea. I was expecting a stronger chestnut taste, but it just tasted like regular green tea. Also got the Yves Saint Laurent cocktail, which was sweet and tasty."
"Excellent place to take your special someone. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Top notch service, excellent food with great presentation, high class service by the entire staff. You want to go somewhere memorable for her? Go here."
"It was delicious. The wine pairing was perfect. Although this is a one star it's really at the upper end of a one star michelin. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's priced as a 2 star, which it isn't. It hasn't breeched that barrier in terms of food presentation or ambiance. I loved our servers, they weren't as dialed as I usually would expect at a restaurant at this level, but clearly were well trained so probably newer. They were so nice. Reservations are easy to get, the food was well prepared and plated and the wine pairing is absolutely at a 2 star level. Highly recommend going if you don't mind it being a scooch overpriced"
"Knife Pleat is housed on the Penthouse floor of South Coast Plaza. Elegant, intimate, and surprisingly more casual than expected, this restaurant is easily one of my favorites. I would expect nothing less coming from a Michelin starred restaurant, and it doesn't disappoint. The service is impeccable and the food is extraordinary. The menu changes regularly, but the plating and quality is a constant. If I could visit monthly I would be happy. This is a costly restaurant that increases in price on the weekends. Reservations are highly recommended due to the small size of the restaurant. Expect to pay a deposit when making a reservation."
"I am impressed above and beyond with everything this place has to offer. I just stopped in to take the edge off…. of all the shopping I was doing with my girl. Which, “I love to death!” And wouldn’t change for the world. But when I ordered the shot of tequila and sparkling water. Matt, the most amazing bartender ever, told me the chef brought me out a little appy which was striped bass and trout roe. Which was incredible!!!! Then they made space for us on a night which was for a tasting only. And so we just went to town and started ordering everything we could. We weren’t even hungry, we just wanted to experience the flavor profiles this team of magic chefs brought to life. I don’t leave too many reviews anymore. But I would be doing you a disservice by not recommending this place if you are down in the Newport Beach area. Chefs kiss was delishhh!"
