Reviews of Ray's Chicken & Fish Mart
"Went here for the first time and they set me up with an amazing plate. The red snapper was on point and so were the fries. Perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Got some red beans on the side too and you can really taste the turkey in there. When I picked up my food the owner introduced himself and shook my hand. The other employee working also gave me pro tips on how to take my food home so it doesnt get soggy. Would reccomend this spot to anyone. Damm near the best fried fish I've ever had and gotta love how they run their business."
"I came into Ray's on a whim and I'm glad I did. As soon as I walked in, and I saw the signs saying everything is made FRESH, I knew the food would be fire! I don't like fried food but Ray's hits different. I ordered the large orange roughy because I wanted a nice white fish and it came with fries and bread. I never eat fries, just because, but the fries at Ray's, I ate all of them. The fries weren't soggy or overcooked, the right amount of salt and a bit of sugar for taste. The fish - never have I had fried fish that was this light and crispy. I feel like I'm exaggerating writing this review, but I'm honestly still thinking about the fish. The proportions were chunky and the fish was flaky. It falls right into your mouth. I haven't tried any of the other fish yet but I'll be back for the catfish and some prawns. Grab the banana pudding, you cannot go wrong with it. There is a whole dessert menu that looks delicious! The staff are super helpful and polite. Ray is an awesome host and good people. Yes, I will be back soon!"
"I was skeptical because of location, but don't let that deter you from eating here. I'm from Texas visiting family and I had the best tasting macaroni salad,Okra and catfish I've had in a long time. The filets on the small order were huge! If you're looking for authentic Southern comfort food this is definitely the place!! Ray, the owner is a very friendly and personable which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. 2 big thumbs up from me and my wife who is from Tennessee."
"Hands down the best fried anything here!! Ask anyone I know, I do not eat sea food! But I’ll eat me some fried catfish from Rays. Best seasoning, the mozzarella sticks are to die for if you love cheese. Me and my girl drive up from Modesto any chance we get to come tear it up."
"We've been coming here for about three or four years now. We have had the catfish, cod, garlic crab, chicken, potatoes salad, and coleslaw. The catfish is not gamy like other places, it's fresh and soft when you bit into it. The fish is fried crispy and so delicous. The cod falls apart when you bite into it so good. The crab meat is just right and it's not dry or chewy like other places ive had crab boil. The potatoe salad is made with fresh vegetables and you can taste it. It's not too dry or too creamy. The coleslaw is just perfect, tangy not too sweet. Ray is such a great guy, he makes you feel welcome and answers all your questions! The amount they give you is perfect, not too little either! The bread is also good, they give u a bread with each order and your choice of salad, potatoe or beans. I highly recommend getting the 3/3 chicken for 2 people it's ALOT of food!! They also have a delicous lemonade he makes by hand! "P.S"- they are currently remodeling the drinks area but the place is still open for business! Like the aign says This is not FAST food so you will have to wait about 20minutes for the food ,because each order is made fresh to be cooked."
