About the Sacramento Crisis Nursery
The Sacramento Crisis Nursery, located at 4533 Pasadena Avenue in Sacramento, California, is a vital resource for families in need of assistance caring for their children during difficult times. Children can stay at the nursery for up to 30 days, where they are provided with their own bed, clothing, shoes, diapers, formula, nutritious meals, and snacks. The nursery offers structured activities, playtime, mealtimes, and bedtime to ensure a positive experience for the children.
Licensed by Community Care Licensing, the Sacramento Crisis Nursery aims to keep families together and reduce the number of young children entering the foster care system. Case managers provide support to parents and caregivers during times of crisis, helping them develop a plan and connect them with community resources and referrals.
The nursery relies on support from the community to continue providing a safe haven for vulnerable children in the Sacramento area. Monthly tours are available for those interested in learning more about the nursery's mission and impact. The Friends of the Crisis Nurseries, a group of dedicated volunteers, work to maintain the nursery's success and raise funds.
Funded in part by the First 5 Sacramento Commission, the Sacramento Crisis Nursery plays a crucial role in supporting the healthy development of children ages zero to five. Caregivers who have utilized the nursery reported being better able to work on resolving their crisis situations. Reviews of Sacramento Crisis Nursery
"I am crying on my way home because I feel like a horrible parent for leaving my child there. The worst experience I've ever had and dealing with a daycare as far intake. I'm leaving him there tonight but I'm never going back after that."
"I had to bring my child here so I could go to the ER. When I called I could hear my child crying in the background and no one was trying to calm him. When I called to let them know I was picking him up early my child was crying in the background. When I picked him up his eyes were full of tears and he had a scratch on his eye and they didn't say what happened or why he was crying. They just gave him to me and left us standing in the lobby. They also did not return his formula."
"This place is nothing like it used to be. They were so reliable and helpful in 2016. A lot has changed since then and I can no longer consider the Crisis Nursery as a part of my support system. They rarely approve the hours that you request. They want to do “body checks” when you drop off your child, but not when you pick them up. They now want you to provide proof of what your doing while your child is there. Why is this important? I value my privacy! I’m a single mom with no family and chronic health issues and my child is disabled. Sometimes I just need a break. I just want to catch up on some sleep, clean up, etc. My intentions are for the benefit of my child not myself. Just want him to be in an environment where he could get the things that I’m not always able to provide when I’m not feeling well… This place is a joke."
"The soonest you can call is the day before and you still have to wait several hours before getting an answer if your kid can come or not. If your having a real CRISIS, this place shouldn’t be your first option, as there is no guarantee that they will accept your child. Let’s say you have to go to work, and they tell you at the last minute that they cannot accommodate your child. You’ll be fired! Smh Or what if your having a mental CRISIS, have no support system and need care as soon as possible. You call them. But they “can’t” accommodate your child until the next day…. But this is the CRISIS Nursery….. hmmm"
"This place is great. I needed emergency child care for my 3 year old due to unforeseen circumstances and this place was a life saver. Because of this place I was able to keep working untill I was able to find more permanent child care. The staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful. My son was so excited every morning to go here. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I am so thankful this place exist. I only wish I could give them more stars."
