"My family of 5 visited Richard Platt a couple of times. He suggested rehab centers, and provided a space and some guidance for us to all convene and talk. It seemed as if he tried too hard to please us all. I believe he was unable to help us with things which are critical when dealing with a person who suffers substance abuse: boundaries and agreements between the parents and family members. Family therapy and substance abuse issues are incredibly complex and I know that my family was especially difficult to work with. I felt as if he could have been a bit more direct and mediated the room more but I acknowledge that I am not educated on how to do this nor do I know what would have been best at the time."
