Reviews of Amy’s family child care(China basin)
"My daughter has been attending Amy's daycare for several months now, and the experience has been wonderful. She eagerly looks forward to going each morning, and she has thrived under the care and guidance of the dedicated staff. During times when my husband and I have busy schedules, we've relied on the flexibility of the daycare, often dropping her off earlier than the standard 8 AM start time. The daycare's festival activities are always well-organized and engaging, adding an extra layer of fun and learning for the children. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Amy's daycare to any parent seeking a nurturing and enriching environment for their child."
"We sent our son to Amy’s daycare when he was 1.5 years old until we enrolled him in a mandarin-immersion preschool when he was almost there. If we had known how great Amy’s would be, we would have enrolled him much earlier! Details below, but the TL;DR is: Amy and her team provide amazing care and even after having had one full time nanny (we worked with 4 others before settling on our current one) and hearing about friends/colleagues daycare experiences, and seeing a number of teachers, we think Amy’s provides the best care amongst all the options. We’d still choose Amy’s without a doubt, though we would have sent him earlier! I would be happy to serve as a reference and provide more details; just ask Amy for my contact details. First, our son was so happy at Amy’s. He loves singing about Amy, her husband, the other teachers, and the friends he’s made at daycare. He’s excited for daycare every day and even asked to go on weekends. Whenever we go to Mission Bay park or Spark Social, our son still asks to walk by Amy’s to see if she’s around. There was also basically no transition period when he stated Amy’s — he loved it since the start! Amy and her team really care. It’s clear they’re doing this because they love children and love caring for them. The environment is so loving and warm, and they go out of their way to make sure each child is comfortable. The main reasons we didn’t send our son earlier are 1) because he is our first child and we were worried that the care at daycare would fall short of our expectations and 2) the stuff we read about how daycare is stressful for the child and leads to worse behavior at home. It turns out that it was silly to worry about either. Amy cares for our son the way we do (except he likes her cooking more!) and he loves playing at daycare and has continued to behave well at home. Our son has also developed so well under Amy’s care. Language wise, he speaks native mandarin (though we also gets a lot of it at home), but more importantly he’s learned great social skills: how to share, help in household chores, and even care for younger kids! My wife and I truly believe Amy is a gift to San Francisco parents. We have worked closely with nearly 10 caretakers/teachers, and there is no one that comes close to Amy’s excellence in providing loving and nurturing care. We could not recommend her any more and please let her know if you’d like to speak for more details!"
"You won’t find a better daycare than Amy’s. Amy cared for both of my kids and from the moment you meet her, you can tell she truly loves her job. She takes the time to really get to know each kid, their likes and dislikes and she helps them mature. She partners with you for potty training, sleep habits and social skills. She cooks delicious meals and feeds the kids 3 meals a day, my kids eat better at Amy’s than at home! Both my kids received wonderful care and a strong understanding of Mandarin. If you can get a spot for your child at Amy’s, definitely take it!"
"We are so grateful for the time our little girl spent with Amy - she was there since she was 6 months old until she turned 2. Amy and her team were throughout attentive, kind, and generous with our little one. When we joined Amy made sure to make the transition as easy as possible and to help our little one acclimate. Amy spent time with us to understand what we did with her at home, her nap schedule, etc. and she was also always open to suggestions when we asked her to change something (e.g. put the baby down for an earlier or later nap). From the very beginning, Amy went above and beyond in her care - even cutting our baby's nails a couple of times when we had not, or recommending a face lotion when her baby skin was very dry. Amy was very organized, very responsive, and very helpful throughout. The babies and toddlers have many books and toys available to them. Amy and her helpers bring out many different types of activities throughout the days - so that the kids develop their fine and gross motor skills, they read, sing, paint, and go outside. Our daughter knows to count to 10, knows many songs in English and Mandarin, and all the letters. Amy and her team create an attentive and positive atmosphere that brings out the best in the kids - and there are no conflicts that I have heard of, even if the children range in age from babies under one year to three. Now that she is verbal, my daughter tells me about her friends in daycare and is excited to go see Amy every day. Amy was incredibly helpful with potty training as well - after we spent 4 days at home learning to use the potty, Amy was very helpful continuing that with our child in the daycare and helping her use the potty, and now, after a month, our child is potty trained. We are so grateful for Amy's care, and sad to be leaving. We are only leaving because we are moving to another city. We would recommend Amy's care to anyone."
"Our son attended Amy's daycare 4 days a week between 10 months and 2.5 years old -- almost 2 years! We highly recommend Amy's, and would give more than 5 stars if we could. After moving to a preschool that is underwhelming, I've realized how blessed we were to be at Amy's and how high she's set the bar for our future school expectations. Here's why: 1. Social & emotional skills: As an only child, our son has had fewer opportunities to interact with other kids. At Amy's, he learned how to take turns, share, wait, and be "gentle" with kids instead of hitting etc through adult-facilitated activities and free play. He always looked happy when we picked him up, running around and climbing the indoor gym toys. We are so glad he's build some foundational social skills for life while at Amy's. 2. Health & sanitation: Our son didn't get sick the entire first year of his life, and had only minor colds + one stomach bug at Amy's. We caught covid outside of Amy's and needed to stay out for a few weeks, and take several tests to show we were no longer contagious. The adult staff always wore masks indoors and outdoors, and they covid tested themselves frequently. As mentioned in the other reviews, I always saw the staff vigorously cleaning the daycare at the end of the day. 3. Kids well-fed w/ nutritious meals: Unlike many daycares and preschools, Amy provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2 snacks for all the kids. The cuisine is mostly Chinese w/ some other kid-friendly foods mixed in. We would always get reports about how our son ate multiple portions of lunch and dinner because he's a hungry boy! 4. Long, deep naps: Our son slept 2-3 hours a day at Amy's, which meant he was healthier and happier in the afternoons and evenings with us. They keep the daycare dark with music playing, and help kids who wake up early move to a different location so they don't disturb the ones who are still napping. 5. Academic & language learning: Our son was diagnosed with a speech delay early in his life. By the time he graduated from Amy's he was no longer speech delayed and could speak both English and Chinese. He learned shapes, colors, ABCs, and numbers at Amy's and probably a lot more that I'm unaware of! 6. Going above and beyond: Through diaper rashes, potty training, and more, Amy helped us troubleshoot things inside and outside of daycare. Our son was potty trained in a week and a half, thanks to Amy's consistency with our methods at school. Diaper rashes disappeared more quickly at Amy's than they did at home! Communication was detailed and daily with photos, texts as needed, and an end of day summary. Our questions were always answered in detail, because Amy or the other caregivers were present and engaged the whole day with the kids. Every morning, Amy or another caregiver greeted our son with a huge hug and smile, making him feel comfortable and loved. They cared for our son like he was family. Through our partnership with Amy's daycare, our son has built a strong foundation of good health, attached relationships, and rapidly developing language & cognition. It is everything we could have wanted and more. You will not regret visiting, applying, and joining Amy's."
