Costco Wholesale

"Don't get me wrong, I love Costco, they have great prices, -and this particular location- they are wonderful for how clean they keep a busy place and a pretty good food court. But, today, my parents took my grandmother on her bi-weekly Costco trip. For context, both my mother and grandmother are cardholders. Sometimes, my mother and father go together with my grandma, while other times, my mother goes alone with her. When my parents attend Costco trips together, my father usually helps his mother-in-law (my grandmother) shop, and in the meantime, my mother can get some personal shopping done, which she doesn't always get to do. Well, today at checkout, my father loaded both my mother's and grandmother's carts onto the belt, and he proceeded to the cashier with my mother and grandmother. While my mother ever so slightly attended to my grandmother, helping her retrieve her membership card and payment method, my father prepared to pay for my mother's items. However, to our surprise, the cashier asked him if the membership was his when it belonged to my mother, and refused to let him pay, even with my mother present beside him. I should mention here that in my household, as well as in many others, it is very common that designated cards are used for groceries, utility bills, and similar expenses. Managing different bills or payments on specific credit cards is a common personal finance strategy utilized by many individuals and households. It seems ridiculous to cause an issue over a certain name established on a credit card being different from the established name on a membership card, particularly when the cardholder is present with the person who is paying. I understand questioning a payment method when the cardholder is visibly not present, but when the person is right there with them, it's actually ridiculous. Not to mention, a similar incident happened to me and my own significant other a while back while we were shopping together. We were at self-checkout, and Amex was not accepted at this location. A worker had to come up and help us scan the items and pay. Lo and behold, the only other payment option we had was one of my credit cards, and because it was my boyfriend's membership, I was not able to pay. Again, he was there with his membership, his items, and his Amex, which at the time we didn't realize was not an accepted payment method (we were new cardholders). I happened to have my Apple Pay with an acceptable Visa credit card, but this was "not allowed". I understand this stuff is "policy" but this "policy" seems like it's reaching at times, disappointingly."

"As is the norm, packed, parking lot, gas station, warehouse. But, it moves fast, parking spots open up quickly, lines and in stores, traffic flows well and quickly. I almost opted not to go in, but I'm glad I did. Quick, easy, and painless. Clean, well stocked, and staff is friendly."
