Reviews of Ramen TAO Gardena
"Came here because of an IG video. Michelin ramen in a supermarket? Ok I’ll make the drive to see what the buzz is all about. Upon further research, their other location is in the Michelin guide. It’s still clearly advertised as so at this location. But nonetheless, I did enjoy their tsukemen ramen. The broth was rich and hearty. Their noodles and chashu were extra thick and different from other tsukemen ramen I’ve tried previously. I could tell quality ingredients went into making this ramen. Was it worth the drive? Probably not but I had a great time at the Japanese market and left with an inflatable Pocky stick!"
"This is a little gem sitting inside the Japanese market. Their main location in Buena Park was awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2023. I haven't been to that location so I'm not able to compare it. I'm leaving the review for their regular ramen, but they're known for their dipping ramen (tsukemen). Like all tsukemen specialized places, the broth is extremely creamy and heavy. The noodles are thicker. I thought the taste was fantastic, but wasn't balanced. You order at the counter and sit wherever you like. More of a quick casual spot. Pro tip: buy a drink at the market! I would recommend giving it a try if you have a heavier taste and want something quick."
"The Jiro ramen is so good! With minced garlic and chili powder on the side, you can add the amount you want. The noodle is flat and thin, with broth on it when you pick up with chopsticks. The broth is not that oily and the bean sprouts are crunchy!"
"Wanted to try this place out, because the restaurant got a Michelin. Got the Chashu Miso Spicy Tsukemen Combo with a Chashu Bowl. The Tsukemen's broth was pretty flavorful, has a small layer of oil, but you can scoop it out if that's not your thing. The noodles were chewy. The Chashu Bowl was pretty flavorful with hints of sesame oil. Two things irked me at this place. The Chashu was really dry and chewy. Not sure if that's supposed to be their style, but it didn't pair well with the Tsukemen. Also, there's no water dispenser here. They're not at fault, since it's the market's responsibility to fulfill that. So for now, you'd have to buy a drink from them or in the market. Don't forget to ask the market employee for the bathroom code, by the way."
