About the Cheatham Wildlife Management Area
Cheatham Wildlife Management Area is a park and tourist attraction located at 1299 Headquarters Road in Ashland City, Tennessee, United States. To reach the WMA, take Hwy 49 toward Charlotte, cross the river, and continue four miles to Hwy 250. Turn left onto Hwy 250 and go four miles to the WMA entrance on your left. The check station is three miles from the entrance, where maps are available.
The institution allows hooved animal riding only for individuals with a valid hunting and fishing license, WMA permit, or High Impact Habitat Conservation Permit. Riding is permitted in designated areas only, with horses and ATVs allowed on the main gravel road. Special regulations apply during big game seasons, prohibiting saddle and pack animals.
The WMA offers various hunting opportunities, including deer, turkey, and coyote. There is also a shooting range open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with restrictions on automatic weapons. The site spans 20,810 acres of upland hardwood forests, pine stands, open fields, scrub shrub, and food plots attracting diverse wildlife.
Visitors can enjoy hiking on miles of gated roads and ATV trails, with opportunities to observe spring and fall passerine migration, including species like Blackburnian Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, and Cerulean Warbler. Deer and Wild Turkey are commonly spotted throughout the year. For more information, contact the Region 2 Office at 615-781-6622 or the Area Manager, Eric Tummins, at (615) 294-5432.

Reviews of Cheatham Wildlife Management Area
"Wonderful Area!! The TWRA did an amazing Job with this area!"
"A good place for practicing shooting."
"Beautiful area and even saw some Turkey while driving through. Nothing wrong with the land itself, it was the WMA employee who scolded me and my wife for taking pictures on “his property” (even though every map I can find of the WMA suggests we were on public WMA land). This occurred at the pavilion by the WMA headquarters, so I guess the many benches, tables, and restrooms of the pavilion belong to this employee? And if it is somehow private land it certainly isn’t posted. Beware."
"Came to this “public land” to get some nature photos and ended up being kicked out by a rude game warden. If he had approached us nicely we would have understood, but he was very abrasive and gave no reason as to why we couldn’t be on public property."
"Beautiful nature, so peaceful We were at an Airbnb "little house" visiting Pegram TN"
