For what they have to deal with, these employees should not be as jovial as they are, yet they do their jobs with a smile and a greeting. "Grocery Outlet is a popular grocer that offers name brand and secondary brand items at a considerable discount. Many items are close to their expiration date, were not selling well at other stores, or are post seasonal items other stores offloaded to make room for new inventory. Secondary brands tend to be stocked regularly while name brands are more of a hit-or-miss when they'll be in stock. The downtown store has been upscaling a bit to include more expensive items and reduced space for some cheaper secondary brands. While the store is definitely a first stop whether on a budget or not keep in mind.. carefully check expiration dates, check produce for freshness, and check packages for damage."

"We saw another customer's dog pee on a bag of coffee sitting on a low shelf. The dog was off leash. We let her know (thinking she didn't notice), and she started harassing and confronting us to the point that we didn't feel safe leaving the store. She was yelling insults at us across the store. We're a gay couple and were just trying to enjoy our night and do our shopping. We let the cashier Kai know what happened and he said there's nothing he can do about it and that the customer is a regular. He didn't show much care or concern and brushed us off. He almost seemed amused and completely unsympathetic. We feel unsafe and will not be back to this store. Luckily we didn't have to call the police but we were close to doing so. UPDATE: I spoke to the Manager, Tom, about our experience and he was very apologetic, kind, and took the incident very seriously. So appreciate his response!"
