Reviews of Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreation Lake
"Name is misleading. The lake surface is 1000 acre. But the lake is divided by a no wake zone that covers approximately 1/3 of the lake. Facilities Haven't been updated in years and long past due."
"We just stopped in to spend a few hours with some great friends and really enjoyed the view from the pavilion. There were plenty of folks out on the lake fishing. I'd love to go back and do some fishing."
"Beautiful lake, recently purchased by TWRA and renamed Halford Lake, so changes may come in the future. We went on a Sunday around 2PM and had a late lunch at the Sunset Grill, their burger is worth driving out for, loved the handmade onion rings & cooked fresh chicken strips and fries! Wish we would have ordered the BBQ chicken plates because they smelled sooo amazing! After eating we dropped our kayaks in and had plenty of little coves to explore, we even saw a Great Blue Heron catch a fish. A few people were out swimming, boating, tubing and jet skiing, everyone was very respectful. It was a beautiful day on the lake!"
"This place is amazing. Can't believe I have lived an hour away and never knew. I stopped to take a look and see what the fuss was about after passing by it multiple times when working. I am in love. It is a family facility. Appeared to have concession, restrooms, and a office. I believe if you live in the county its either $3 or $4 a person. Those who don't it's $5. Yet I will be paying to swim!!!! It's clean and looks like fun!"
"Nice man made lake that is about one thousand acres. It is stocked with a good variety of bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill, etc. Lake is quite new though so it's full fishing potential may be years away. There is a nice boat launch onsite. You must be a member to use this lake. Daily and yearly passes are available to buy at boat launch area in the main building. There are 2 beaches also and you must purchase a pass for this also. They sell bait there. Boaters and wave runners do not respect no wake zones. There are fishing only areas on lake that people feel the need to waterski or jetski in. Water is crystal clear."
