Reviews of Old Hickory Trail
"Beautiful trail, so sad the tornado tore it to pieces"
"DO NOT GO! At time of post, the entire trail head and paved path is blocked by fallen trees. I even tried climbing over some of the trees to see if it cleared up, but I could not get through."
"The trail is closed due to damage from the tornados"
"This trail in Old Hickory is well maintained and has quite a bit of distance to it. It is dog friendly and it usually isn’t too busy. The trail is very flat and has long lengths of straightaways. However, it is kind of a boring walk in my opinion. I wish there were views of the water, considering its close proximity to the Cumberland River. It’s not my first pick for trails to walk in the area, but it is worth a visit if you are ever close by."
"There’s a flat paved path that’s not very long and several dirt side missions if you have a bike that can take some bumps. Proper Mountain bikers might find it boring but it’s a nice set of trails to get some dirt on your tires without having to worry about anything too technical or committing to a long trail. If you reach the power lines you can follow them and get back on the next section or go straight across for more trail in a less known, slightly more wilderness feeling set of paths with more wooden bridge areas. They aren’t very obvious so look for them. Be careful because there are some broken boards in a section of the wooden bridge back there. While I don’t think they specifically for bikes, the dirt paths are mostly single track width so be careful of pedestrians, and vice versa if you’re on foot. Honestly, If I wanted to walk a paved path with the dogs, I’d probably go over to crooked branch. It’s probably my favorite easy quick ride in the area you can get off of in multiple places. I just did a little under 3 miles and I think I got all the trails. Every time I’ve been there there’s at least one or two cars with people just sitting there in the parking lot. Some people might think that’s sketchy but no one‘s ever bothered me. That being said, you don’t see a lot of people who look like me on milk cartons, so use your own discretion."
