Reviews of Fulton-El Camino Recreation & Park District
"I've done quite a bit of volunteering and helping with the community over the years. Just that sense of purpose to help others in need really makes me feel better about myself and the people that are in our lives. This takes me to the "Fulton-El Camino Recreation & Park District" where I had this opportunity on Saturday 1/7/2023. Located directly in the middle of Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood of Sacramento, this place actually has a different name that is not listed on Yelp, "Conzelmann Community Center". The center itself has a 200-person capacity which can be reserved for banquets, weddings, anniversaries, and other gatherings. Since I work for a specific government organization, I volunteered to help with handing out water, snacks, hot meals, and blankets to families in need while giving them temporary assistance and shelter. It puts everything into perspective just how many people in this world hit hard times and don't have a place to go, let alone food to eat on a regular basis. The center itself has a stage, storage cabinets for coats, and a hallway with a men's and women's restroom. There is also a generous outdoor picnic table nearby in case you wanted to take your party under the sun or stars. As I mentioned, it's nice to have this available in the middle of a park where there are plenty of ample parking spots nearby. So with that said and done, I am giving the "Fulton-El Camino Recreation & Park District" an above average 4-star Google review."
"Fulton-El Camino (FEC) Park Police Department can't do its job because it is subcontracted by both the Mission Oaks and Carmichael Recreation and Park districts to ticket park users as a secondary police force. Even more ironic, FEC is not even based in Sacramento, they are officed in a different town, at 3720 Dudley Blvd., Suite 118I McClellan, CA. According to Mission Oaks Parks and Rec, "Though the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is the general law enforcement agency in our district, our primary supplemental patrol services are performed by officers of the Fulton-El Camino (FEC) Park District Police. Officers are fully sworn California Peace Officers with the same authority as Sheriff’s Deputies and the City of Sacramento Police Officers. We also contract with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department for additional patrols.""
"The park district has misused the funds for these parks for years. No repair maintenence gets done. Bridges have been closed at howe park for a long time. Today, one of the parks wasn't even opened until after 10am. Sealy park by my house, has had the dancing fountains unworking for years. One working drinking fountain. 1 working bathroom(womens). There has been a pile of broken glass bottles for a week and a half. And atleast 2 days a week, the gates aren't opened until after 9am, today is was 10:20am before anyone decided to open the park, and they forgot to open the rear walk-in gate."
"Nice clean park, it's a very big park. They have different activities going on. You may see a volleyball to the your left and then there's a baseball field. So different people play ball. There is a small/large dog area..two playgrounds for the field and also a small pond .."
