Esther's Park

Esther's Park is a vibrant institution located at 3408 3rd Avenue in Sacramento, California, United States. This park is home to PS7 Elementary, the only school in Sacramento that offers scholars three elective opportunities during the school day - Art, Music, and PE. Students have the chance to explore their creativity while learning about different arts. Additionally, the park hosts Free Movie Matinees at the Guild Theater on the 1st Sunday of each month, featuring family favorites like Matilda.

Let's Read Oak Park, presented by St. HOPE, offers elementary school-aged children the opportunity to explore books and participate in hands-on activities with cultural themes. The Oak Park Speaker Series, featuring Chris Webber, takes place at St. HOPE/Sac High, founded by Kevin Johnson in July 1989. St. HOPE Public Schools, a preK-12 independent charter school district, provides high-quality education to nearly 2,000 students.

The 40 Acres complex, a project of St. HOPE Development Company, includes Underground Books, Uncle Jed's Cut Hut, Starbucks, and the Guild Theater. The historic Woodruff Hotel, renovated by St. HOPE in 2003, is a centerpiece of the Oak Park community. The institution also supports affordable housing projects and provides resources to at-risk scholars and their families through the Dragon's Closet.

Various events and initiatives are hosted at Esther's Park, including the Oak Park Black Film Festival, book signings by notable figures like Maryum Ali, and partnerships with organizations like California State University, Chico's Fulbright Program. The park also celebrates Black History Month and showcases the achievements of Sac High scholar-athletes. Art & Soul in Sacramento, an organization focused on healing through art, is also a part of the vibrant community at Esther's Park.
