About the Caroline Park
Caroline Park is a unique park and botanical nature garden located at 320 North Poppy Road in Redlands, California. This park is a favorite among naturalists, dog walkers, picnickers, homeschoolers, walkers, and runners. The overlook terrace off Sunset Drive offers parking and a stunning 180-degree view of the surrounding mountains. While there are no restrooms or playground equipment, Caroline Park provides a one-of-a-kind park experience.
Originally donated to the City of Redlands in 1929 by Olivia Phelps Stokes in memory of her sister Caroline, the park remains in its natural state as much as possible. In 1987, Dr. Harold Hill envisioned a native plant botanical park within Caroline Park, which was developed with the help of local residents, Rotary Clubs, and the City Parks Department. The park features a variety of habitats, including woodlands and Coastal Sage Scrub, a dwindling habitat in Southern California.
Caroline Park is home to a diverse array of trees, shrubs, and native annual wildflowers, providing habitat for a wide range of wildlife. The park uses four types of irrigation suited for different plant types, requiring minimal water once established. Visitors can enjoy spotting a variety of birds, mammals, lizards, snakes, butterflies, and insects throughout the park.
With its rich history and commitment to preserving native plant species, Caroline Park offers a peaceful and educational experience for all who visit.

Reviews of Caroline Park
"We love stopping in redlands on our way back and forth from los angeles to palm springs, We always stop at Caroline's Cafe, for breakfast and there's always somewhere to go, and something new to see"
"You would have never known this place was here being that it is nestled in between homes. Beautiful homes. It is so quiet and peaceful. Every turn is what you see pictured. Once you get a minute to see how the trail goes you can work up a good sweat. We spent only 30 mins here that was the walk but looking around was another 15 mins. This is literally for anyone. It is easy to walk and easy to get to. If you are looking an actual hike this would not be it. This is more for a good walk getting outside type of trail. Great for kids and elders as well. As mentioned in other reviews there are benches to sit on along the way for those leisure walks of beauty where you can sit and bird watch. You do park in the cul de sac if you take Google directions which you will get an opportunity to see a beautiful ‘Art Not War’ mural on your right side corner house as you pull up. This place is a hidden gem."
"If you are looking for a family friendly hiking trail, with views like no other, and is clearly loved, and looked after then please hit this park up! The trails are so well maintained and perfect for morning exercises / offer a lot of different plants and wildlife. Highly recommend to other photographers if you are looking to do those iconic Redlands nature based photo shoots to utilize this location: my clients love this spot! There is a huge grassy hill that has a great elevated view of Redlands outside of the hiking trails that offer various paths."
"Caroline Park is a wonderful place to see a wide range of California native plants. The trails are very easy to navigate and the views are spectacular."
"Such a quiet and peaceful park with easy, dirt trails with variety of plant species and flowers. It is soo peaceful and relaxing. You can actually hear the birds chipping. Plenty of greenery and actually can be perfect for a picnic or a chill spot or to meditate. It also has beautiful views with nice, big houses. Very kids friendly as well with benches around to sit along the trails. There is plenty of Parking spaces off of sunset drive/street."
