"This park is located behind Newhart Middle School. I pick my daughter up here everyday, along with other parents. I've rarely noticed the park empty. Since there is a Senior Center in one side and the school on the other, I've noticed a lot of foot traffic. Parents who show up early take there small children to the playground, seniors meet at the park, birthday parties and, dog walkers. It's a open area with trails and a playground along with other amenities. The restrooms always seem to be clean along with the surrounding area. I've actually walked the path around the baseball/softball field and it, the walk path, leads to a couple of hiking trails. The only busy time is after school, between 2:45-3:30pm Monday-Friday. Other then that, the park looks like the perfect place to bring the family for a picnic or just to play catch on a nice big open grassy area. There is a vending machine next to the restrooms but, it only takes debit/credit cards. There are a few picnic tables along with BBQ's. So if you are looking for something to do and you just want to get outdoors, go check this park out. The dirt paths run along the creek bed and allow for bikes, as long as you give pedestrian the right of way."
"Oso Viejo Community Park is a good spot to spend time with your kids, or grandkids. The coolest part of the playground is the massive slides. Two of the six slides are three levels high, and provide for an exciting ride. There is also a smaller section for younger kids. I enjoyed sitting in the shaded chairs and watching the kids play. The spot provided for a great view of the playground, so not to worry too much about loosing sight of them. There are nice paths which provide for a nice walk, and can be done with a stroller. There are mosaic art instillations, benches for rest or snacks, and a book to read. The pages of the book are spread along the path, which gave the kids excitement to keep moving to the next section. The kids also took some time to run around the field. Overall, a good time. For those that live nearby looking for fitness, there are also workout stations and a horseshoe pit, but as we passed it looked like people were playing bocce ball. I also found out that there is a small hedge maze we missed, so we will have to go back and check it out another day."
"This is a nice, mainly shaded trail. Parking is easy and there are cool little stops along the trail that include artwork and greenery! Dogs are welcome on leash. The only thing is there have been a lot of coyote sightings so you just have to be alert/careful."
"The natural interaction was absolutely top notch, there are many fairy gardens to find along the trails to keep the young ones engaged. The main pavilion is surrounded by natural plants and there description. There is a veterans memorial that represents all the major wars the US has been in. The trail is adorned with local artists works and is very family friendly."
"This is a great park! There are 4 big, fun slides! Ages 5-12 then a small structure for little ones and plenty of clean sand (minus long pine needles), swings, picnic tables and plenty of room to sit. The are also bathrooms nearby, love that!"
