About the Lincoln Park
Located at 101 Pacific Avenue in Long Beach, California, Lincoln Park is the oldest park in the city, established since 1880. After undergoing construction for the new Long Beach Civic Center, the park reopened in February 2022 as the final component of the downtown area. With a budget of $19.5 million funded through a Public Private Partnership, the park offers a range of amenities including a universally-accessible playground, a dog park with designated areas for small and large dogs, fitness equipment, a synthetic turf sports field, a skate park, and more.
The park also features a Lincoln Penny installation, a Lincoln Statue, and various Discovery Zones for learning and exploration. Residents and community members were involved in the development of the park, providing feedback on events, programming, and activities they would like to see. Additionally, free group recreation activities are offered at Lincoln Park, including fitness classes, movies in the park, and family game nights.
With a rich history dating back to 1880, Lincoln Park was originally known as Pacific Park before being renamed in 1915 with the installation of the iconic Abraham Lincoln statue. Over the years, the park has seen various improvements and additions, including a library donated by Andrew Carnegie in 1908. Despite challenges such as a fire damaging the main library in 1974, the park has continued to be a central hub for the community.
Today, Lincoln Park stands as a vibrant and welcoming space for residents and visitors to enjoy, offering a mix of recreational activities, green spaces, and opportunities for learning and exploration. With its long-standing history and recent revitalization, Lincoln Park remains a beloved institution in the heart of Long Beach.

Reviews of Lincoln Park
"The homeless have taken over and the skateboard park does no favors. The homeless sleep along the library and then come out to the playground and watch the children. It's creepy and I don't take my daughter there anymore."
"It is a good place to bring kids. It has a nice, big, clean playground that is safe for the kids to play in. However, be careful when being close to the Billie Jean King Library. There are always a lot of homeless people living there."
"Now open at 2022 New Skatepark, Play area, Fitness zone, new Dog Park, panic Area, New Library"
"Great modern setup! Lots of variety with playground activities from instruments to spinning and climbing. Workout stations surround the west side and nice looking astroturf grass on the east side."
"Very nice new park located downtown next to the library. Nice new equipment, and plenty of grassy areas to hang out, and even a dog park area is available. Nice place to bring the family! The homeless start gathering after dark, so just be aware."
