Heartwell Park Community Center

Heartwell Park Community Center is located at 5801 Parkcrest Street in Long Beach, California. This park offers 122.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, featuring a fishing pond, bike/skate path, fitness course, and shaded picnic areas. Visitors can enjoy night-lighted game courts, athletic fields, ball diamonds, and a kiddie playground. The park also offers youth activities, sports, and special interest classes.

Originally known as Lakewood Park, it was renamed in honor of Col. Charles Heartwell, who played a key role in the city's acquisition of the land for the park. The park is divided into four main sections and features a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy.

The park has a rich history, with donations of trees and shrubs, as well as the construction of a recreation building in 1964. Improvements have been made over the years, including the addition of a golf course, baseball diamonds, picnic areas, and soccer fields. The park has benefited from park bonds and improvements funded by Los Angeles County.

In addition to the recreational facilities, the park also houses the Ruth Bach Library and leases areas to organizations such as the Girls Scouts of America, Camp Fire Girls, and Long Beach Day Nursery. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as baseball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas, playgrounds, roller hockey courts, soccer fields, softball fields, restrooms, and volleyball courts.
