"Free for California residents that have a Los Angeles library card and use the Discover and Go program. Lots of great exhibits but our favorites were probably the dinosaur ones. The rocks and jewelry exhibit was also rather special. You can find free parking in the neighborhoods."
"It's probably my second time in over 20 years that I've visited this historic museum. It's located across the street from USC, and nestled right near the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It's a busy place to drive around to, as there is a lot of activity going on. This museum holds many old artifacts, tens of millions of years old in their collection from fossils, to crystals, minerals, precious stones, to displays of wildlife both present, and extinct of course. There is a lot to see here, and one can learn some history of California. There are many wings to the museum, and something for everyone. For me, the Dino fossils are very impressive. You can easily spend an entire day here. There are elements of tools, and art from native tribes, subtle messages about our environment and caring for it, and many things to see. Spend a day here, I think everyone will enjoy it here. As a bonus, in the main parking area closer to Figueroa Blvd, there is an SR-71 Blackbird Spy Jet mounted on display. As a person who loves fighter jets, and planes, it's always a bonus to see the old plane. Plan early because they museum does close at 5:pm. So if you want to split your time between this museum, and the California Science Center, plan ahead. Have fun!"
"First time visitor and absolutely love this place. There's a variety of exhibits to explore and discover. The layout of the museum is such that there is no one way or "right" way to explore, and you may even find yourself wandering into different exhibits without planning to! The plaques are informative and their fossils collection is extensive. I appreciate how the plaques will showcase which part of the models are real fossils and which bones are recreated. From gems, to dinosaurs, bugs, mammals, birds, dioramas, gardens, there's so much to explore. I recommend getting in early! I did not get to visit the entire museum within my time there, and I will definitely be back."
"This was an amazing museum! The mineral exhibit was one of the coolest I've ever seen and worth going to all on its own! They also have a gem room which was also pretty cool. On top of those things the dinosaur fossils are very well done and extremely cool! One of the better exhibits I've been to. We spend a couple hours just on those things alone and they made the price of admission worth it! We also had a small snack in the Cafe which was pretty yummy. Overall I highly recommend if your looking for something indoors to do in the area."
"I love going to museums, it's very relaxing. This one in particular has a comforting feel to it. The lighting and peacefulness really sets the tone for a great museum. Surrounded by a massive rose garden and the science center makes this journey a lot better. Note: Construction is ongoing at the moment, so it looks a little chaotic but I have hopes that it will look amazing in the future."
