Reviews of Helping Mamas Knoxville
"Amazing facility and staff with a great mission. We are very fortunate to have this organization in our area. Keep up the great work."
"Stopped by recently to drop off a donation. Had my child with me and wanted to let them experience the art of giving. Unfortunately I was not able to let him experience this as the people at the facility gave facial expression and body language. That was very negative and made me feel as if my items were not wanted nor was my presence wanted at that facility. When asking about volunteering for my child, I was directed towards the website from a voice behind a cubicle wall. I feel that this was all very unprofessional and hope that no mother that needs help is treated in the way that I was treated as someone donating items. They have a lot of positive thank yous to people on their Facebook page yet that is not what you always receive in person. I was so upset and frustrated by the actions of the executive director Tess and the other lady that was with her. I do not know her name but she had a short black hairdo Bob style and I contacted another person that I donate items to. That is also an executive director to let them know how horrible this experience was at mama's Knoxville. The only time they showed concern was after I expressed my disdain for their behavior right before I walked out. At that time Tess came out and was asking what was wrong. I let her know what was the issue. Do I think she solved this? Absolutely not. I don't want to have to call someone out for the way they behave, especially when they donate to the community. But then again, I don't want them treating other people like this either. In my opinion, no donation is too big or too small and she definitely made us feel smaller than small."
"As Executive Director of a licensed child placing agency and licensed child abuse prevention agency, Helping Mamas is one of my most important and essential partnerships. Helping Mamas paved the way to extend our community outreach to families by supplying us with diapers, wipes, clothes, hygiene kits, period products, pamper bags for Mamas who just delivered, and so much more. Tess Frear, HMK Executive Director, is not only a fellow colleague of mine but she is my friend, a dedicated Mama, a fierce advocate for Mamas and their families, and a centerpiece within the community of Knoxville. Her heart beats for others in a way that has inspired me to do better and to answer every call to action by never turning my cheek to any glaring issue that families within our community find themselves battling with day to day. Through empathy, dedication, and perseverance, Tess has grown HMK into a household name in East TN that normalizes the struggles of motherhood and creates endless avenues of support and resources. It is simply impossible for me to convey the level of respect and gratitude that I hold for HMK because at the end of the day, our agency is able to serve our clients and our community in a way that would not be possible if HMK did not exist. Tess and her crew at HMK are the best of the best!"
"About 12 of us from my work group came last Saturday to help sort and organize donations. We also held a donation drive for those that couldn't come volunteer. Tess was so nice and helpful to any of us that had questions. You can tell she is very passionate about helping families in East Tennessee. This is a great non-profit and they are making a big impact in our area."
"What a fantastic organization! Our small group from church volunteered there this morning. Check out their Facebook or Instagram sites for more information on how to help!"
