"stumbled upon hole in the wall chinese restaurant tucked away atop a set of stairs in chinatown steps away from the famous lipo cocktail bar. reasonable prices and friendly service are a welcomed surprise from the typical pricy sf establishments. would come back to try their namesake clay pots but the other dishes are tasty in their own right! salt & pepper chicken wings: packs a lot of flavor, on the edge of being too salty but still tasty fried wontons: pork filled, great with the vinegar honey walnut shrimp: enjoyed this dish but wasn’t my favorite. nice combo though sesame chicken: standard sesame chicken but well made and hits the spot."
"Such a gem! Great spot upstairs in Chinatown. Food was delicious and very affordable. The server was super friendly and kind, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant just made me smile:) definitely come here if you’re stopping through San Francisco!"
"Sizzling clay pot! Decent Hong Kong food in generous portions. Wonton soup is gentle and tasty. It has about six pieces of wontons so it’s also perfect to share. Also comes with bok choi. Bitter melon isn’t very common in restaurants because the vegetable is bitter. The chef handled it well. Pot stickers are actually fried dumplings… Food is quite oily in general but otherwise tastes good. Service is friendly and fast. Price is good. Somehow Chinatown feels quite empty in the evening."
"When you visit the San Francisco Bay Area, I highly recommend going to Hong Kong Clay Pot. This was a hidden gem of a restaurant. After a stroll in Chinatown, enter the doorway and up the stairs to excellent dinner. We were greeted by the hostess/server. She was friendly and helpful directing us to our table. Tea was served. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings, wonton soup and stir fried spicy green beans with chicken. Delivered to our table by the chef himself. All highly recommend. The meal was excellent. I suspect everything on the menu would be just as delicious. Another plus was that the dinner didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Also, we given a free 2024 year of the dragon calendar. Definitely a place to plan a visit."
"Decent restaurant all around. However, I wish the servers were more helpful selecting food from the menu (it’s veryyyy overwhelming). The service was good, slow at times, and the ambience overall was good."
