"Very unfortunate experience and one that begs closer inspection before you place an order with this company. My wife and I are just a regular non-commercial customers who placed an order in good faith, for a large piece of high quality lumber for our house remodel project. The order was placed on July 27th and I was told that the order would take two to three weeks or more to come in. Not in any particular rush, I told them that this was OK, however after 5 weeks of not hearing from Pine Tree, I decided to look-see about my order. So yesterday, August 7th, I spoke with Jesus Villa (nice guy btw) who told me that, in fact, the order had come in 2 days after I originally placed it and, by my math, has been sitting in their yard in the hot sun for 5+ weeks. I asked why no one had reached out to me, he said that typically someone should have but in this case no one did. And based on my phone logs, he's right. Anyway he apologized and told me that he would look into the situation, inspect the lumber I ordered and call me first thing the following morning. Ok NP, I thought to myself. Well I guess he got a little busy (as we all sometimes do) because PM the next day I called him to find out what the situation was. He confirmed that the lumber was likely "OK". Not confident that this was indeed the case (and as this lumber was going to be used in a supporting structure), I decided to clue-in the general manager. Jerry was argumentative, defensive and unapologetic, even in light of my patience and flexibility. He mentioned that the lumber was in all likelihood compromised at this point and went on to blame ME for not picking it up. Utterly ridiculous! Had they simply called when it originally came in, I would have picked it up there and then... easy peasy! Instead he intimated that the onerous was on the 'customer' to determine when an order arrives (on their premises, mind you). Shouldn't the vendor let the customer know within a reasonable time frame, when their perishable orders come in? Maybe he thinks we customers are gifted with ESP and magically know the comings and goings of our orders in their supply chain? Had Jerry simply taken a more reasonable, customer-focused and respectful tone, and tried made things right, all this could have been avoided. Now I'm wasting time writing this review and need to reorder the lumber (with JW Lumber this time). God forbid I treat my customers the way Pine Tree's Jerry treated us after their self admitted FAIL. How unfortunate! Today Jesus called to smooth things over on behalf of his boss (which in it of itself is revealing). Jesus is a real gentleman and a really nice guy to boot. I told him that at this point I was not comfortable buying anything from Pine Tree and that I'd be cancelling the order outright. I mentioned that we are reasonable people and understand that sometimes orders just fall through the cracks, but what really bothered us was Jerry's rude and uncooperative attitude. When I'm having a bad day I make sure to leave it at the door, not trail it in all over the place. IMHO Jack Bower (the owner) should think about giving Jerry the boot and putting someone like Jesus in charge. Sad UX and in total contradiction of their public facing statement: "We pride ourselves on giving extraordinary service to our custom home builders, remodel and finish carpenters and commercial contractors. We also welcome and provide superior customer service to the homeowner who needs materials for their latest home project.""
