"At my suggestion, my parents hired their trust officer in March of 2020. After 2-3 months of confusing emails and calls with the trust officer telling me she'd gotten all she needed from the previous trust co, then saying she had nothing from them, then saying again that she had all she needed, I got an email on May 23rd from trust officer saying she was on schedule to pay Mom's health insurance (not mentioning any other bills). I found out weeks later that the trust officer had not, in fact, paid that insurance co before or after that email, so Mom's insurance lapsed. I spent hours on the phone trying to either get her reinstated or find another agency to cover a then 93 yr old. After 2 wks of calls and emails, I got through to a "higher-up" at the existing agency who said they'd reinstate her IF the trust co admitted wrongdoing. It took 2 tries but CBTC admitted it. Because of that and their trust officer asking my parents to refi a mortgage with her, my parents chose to remove them as trustee. Instead of an apology or gracious exit, they filed a petition in court, claiming to have "concern" for my parents' competence on the same day they asked them to sign a new loan. A year later, we're told my parents will owe upwards of $50k for CBTC's fees and attorney fees, which doesn't include our own attorneys. How does "concern" result in a bank creating stress for two people in their mid 90's, and cost them tens of thousands of dollars?"
