"Truly a Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde experience. My elderly mother was seeing another Dr. for CT scan results. Very unexpectedly, she had a mass in her lung. The Dr. called Dr. Houck into the room(his office is in the same building). He very graciously spoke to us, set up additional tests and was just all around wonderful. Fast forward approximately 10 days, we went back for PET scan results. Mind you, my mother was already on the verge of tears fearing cancer. Dr. Houck started by talking about everything but the mass. When my mother asked him about it, he told her quote “ to be quiet and listen”. It became apparent he had not looked at the scan until that moment, I asked him if he had previously looked at them and another word for word quote, “no, I have a life”. If it was not for upsetting my Mother, he may or may not have received a throat punch. He did not think the mass was cancerous but could not be sure without a biopsy. Totally understandable. My Mother then asked him what he suggested. He said he wouldn’t answer that because surgery was how he made his money. I told him she would not be doing the biopsy now because the mass had actually shrunk a small amount. He made an appointment for a follow up CT scan to check for changes. He may be a wonderful surgeon, I have no personal knowledge. I do know he missed classes on bedside manners. Maybe his wife made him sleep on the couch the night before. Everyone can have a bad day but when you are talking about a patients health, I expect professionalism and compassion. That day, he extended neither. To end on a good note, his entire staff are sweethearts, they get 5 stars."

"My 31 year old brother went in for a routine procedure from Dr Houck and never came home. Now his 2 and 4 year old children are without their father. And when confronted with simple questions, the doctor became agitated and began blaming and yelling at the nurse. This man does not deserve to be practicing medicine."
