Reviews of Charles Retina Institute
"Terrible organization and wait time. Every visit requires several hours to complete a simple exam or shot that takes minutes. Whoever designed their patient management system needs to sit out in the waiting room with the patients for several hours to see how miserably this system works. It’s 9:40 now and we are awaiting our 8:00 appointment. I imagine we will be sitting for a few more hours. We DREAD coming each month because of the LONG waits. There has to be a better way to run this business. Terrible time management. Bring a snack and something to drink - you will need it. By the way - the wait is NOT due the holidays or the new computer system. It's been long waits every time we come. ***Edited to add - we were finally seen after several hours. We walked out the door after our procedure around 2:00 in the afternoon. We were sitting in the waiting room from 8:00am until about 2:00pm. Our appointment was for 8:10. SIX hours waiting for a procedure that took about 10 minutes. I feel sure that the doctors and staff would not sit in another professional's office be it lawyer, accountant or any other profession for six hours waiting past their appointment time. We have no beef with the doctor's skill - that's why we are there - but something needs to be done about the exceedingly long wait times. Apparently the appointment times mean nothing. ***Edited to Add - For our March visit we only had to wait one hour. This was a first for us. ..and the fastest we have ever been seen. I hope it is the way future visits will go. As usual I packed snacks, waters, newspapers and magazines to read along with books on my tablet, but did not have to use them all this time. Cudos to Charles Retina for addressing the LONG wait time. I hope the long wait problem is solved. Since this is our first visit ever with only an hour wait I will report again after our next two month visit. Fingers crossed....we DREAD these visits. ....now if only they could figure out a method of calling the next patient without hollering across the room. It's a shouting match in there. Hospitals and restaurants often use a device that buzzes when its your turn. It would certainly solve the shouting and privacy issues. Just a thought."
"Visiting this clinic is completely demoralizing. The previous reviewers are correct, it is normal to wait several hours before you’ll even see a doctor. Their office system functions like an assembly line, with practitioners yelling patient names across the open waiting room and people shuffling about as they’re called in and out. Don’t expect any of the staff or doctors to tell you their names as you’re moved through their rooms. The hours-long wait is not due to staff learning a new administration system. I’ve been here many times over 2 years and it is always the same. The doctor who perform my laser procedure a month ago asked me what he was supposed to be doing, which is NOT a question you want your doctor to ask before they laser your retina. I sat in my car and cried when I finally got out of that appointment. I’m here now, been waiting 2 full hours so far, and haven’t seen a doctor yet. If I had any other option for a specialist I would never come back to this place. ------- Follow up: I was waiting at the clinic for a total of 5 hours, all for an follow-up with the doctor that took 8 minutes to complete. Also, two different clinicians made a point to tell me they were skipping three other people who were ahead of me in line, so that they could see me faster. If my appointment only takes 8 minutes, there's no excuse as to why it takes so long to see patients. And trying to guilt trip me for their inefficiencies is absolutely ridiculous. The clinic manager called me to apologize the day after this experience, but it doesn't make it okay for me or any of the other patients who wasted an entire day there, most of whom are much older adults. Everyone's time is valuable and everyone deserves to be treated with dignity when they arrive for a scheduled appointment."
"The wait was a bit long, I think it was because of the holiday season, the assistants and technicians were fast and very polite. But Dr Rafieetary was beyond my expectations, he was thorough his confidence and nice approach make you feel comfortable to ask any questions and he answers them very clearly. He takes his time to find what is your concerns.I definitely recommend him."
"Dr. Charles was extremely professional and personable. He explained the issues and the surgery needed to correct the problem in easy to understand terms. His staff was absolutely delightful to work with and insured that navigating each station went smoothly. Thank you!"
"Fantastic office personnel. Clean environment. The Tech’s were through and answered all my questions. Dr Raffatari was very personable and professional, which put me at ease, during a trying time with my first detached retina. He was comforting and reassuring that everything would be alright, and I was in good hands!"
