Gibson & Barnes

"Gibson And Barnes used to be the premier go to place for your flight helmets. I personally have bought 5 from them in the last 16 years. I am in the fire business and when I need a part or service, I need it now. In the past Gibson and Barnes would bend over backwards to get me what I needed. I didn't and don't mind paying for a service. Now you get the "why are you bothering me" attitude, and "we will reach out to you when the part is available or we have a lead time". This is completely unacceptable. There are now many other companies selling top quality flight helmets that are approved for government use at a lower price point and with excellent customer service. Companies need to understand, customer service is paramount! Gibson and Barnes has forgotten this critical piece of information. I have spent my last dollar at Gibson and Barnes. UPDATE: Jeremy, the GM at Gibson and Barnes, reached out to me within an hour of me posting this review. He asked about my experience calling in for service. He wanted to know information about my call, which I gave him in detail, and what product I was needing. He said he would check into it and get back with me. About 20 mins later he called saying he had spoken to the customer representative I had dealt with and explained to them the importance of good service. He apologized profusely and said this encounter was not what Gibson and Barnes was about and customer service IS their top priority. He located the item I was needing and had it at my location two days later. When I write a review, which I do very rarely, I don't expect to get something for free and do not want to be contacted with an apology. I write it so other consumers like myself will know the experience I had with said company and possibly avoid the same issues I had experienced. Over the last several years, my experience with Gibson and Barnes has been mediocre at best, with this last one being the last straw. That being said, the followup from the General Manager, Jeremy, was very unexpected especially after the last several encounters with Gibson and Barnes. His professionalism and genuine desire to make things right actually impressed me. This was the old Gibson and Barnes I used to know. Kudos to him for going the extra mile. His effort has regained my business with them. I have changed my original rating to 4 stars to represent the effort. Eric"

"Gibson & Barnes do exceptional work! As an ex Blue Angel in 1971-72, I had to have my helmet refurbished after 50 years from all of the deterioration inside and a cracked visor hood. This is going to be a keepsake to my grandsons and I wanted it done right! Thanks to Frank Andrueski who spearheaded my helmet project and Gibson & Barnes outstanding workmanship, they exceeded my expectations. They did everything exactly that we agreed to in order to maintain as much of the original helmet as possible. They took their time and kept me informed, and I was impressed that they didn't rush the job. When I took my helmet in for an appraisal, Frank gave my family and me a tour of their facilities with an opportunity to meet some of the workers and to see their workmanship. "It took some effort to figure out what size flight suit fit a 14 year old boy, but after that effort I ordered a 36 Short and it fit perfectly. What was remarkable was that G&B had in stock a 36S size and also was able to assist in the sizing. The product itself is great, and the right size made it even "greater"."

"I ordered an SPH-5 helmet; was helped from the beginning by Donny, who proved to be knowledgeable and always answered my emails in a timely manner. I was given a timeline and a quote, both were respected. My order was pretty specific and there were a few items that I wanted personalized, including the paint job of the shell. Because of that I was a little worried about the final product, as it often happens when several layers of customization are requested. I couldn't have been more wrong: when the helmet was delivered I was blown away not only by the quality of the assembly but also by how great the paint job looked. It was exactly what I was expecting, no surprises, all my requests had been granted. I've had colleagues commenting on the great looks of the helmet as soon as I showed up at work. I will be shopping at Gibson and Barnes again and would recommend them to other pilots who are looking for a high quality, personalized helmet."
