Reviews of Advanced Tailwheel Training
"After completing my PPL, it was a goal of mine to complete a Tailwheel endorsement. Not just for the fun of it, but also to better my “stick & rudder” skills. Boy was it definitely BOTH! I had an absolute blast training with Ron. He was an incredible instructor, extremely knowledgeable and patient. If you’re on the fence about learning a Tailwheel aircraft, get off of that fence and contact Advanced Tailwheel Training immediately! Trust me, you won’t regret the new skills you’ll learn and training with Ron."
"Ron was an awesome instructor to have for the spins and tailwheel training! Incredibly experienced and humble aviator as well as a patient coach who is able to turn every mistake into a learnable and teachable moment. I’m pretty new to the aviation world having just earned my private and after a recommendation from my CFI’s I headed over to M54. Post training I feel a lot more confident in myself and my ability to recognize or recover from a bad situation. The tailwheel portion was a blast!"
"I finished my private pilot certification earlier this summer, and my instructor encouraged me to go see Ron Dillard for the Spin Avoidance and Recovery course training. It was incredible, and Ron is a knowledgeable and patient instructor. After this, I do think I will be a safer pilot having some experience of what it feels like going into the spin and now have some muscle-memory hands-on experience with what to do to immediately recover from spins. Also, flying Ron's Citabria after training in a Cessna 172 feels like a fighter plane or sports car by comparison, not in terms of engine power but evident in the responsiveness of the controls, control surfaces, and turning capabilities of the plane. It was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this training and will go back for more lessons with Ron in the tailwheel transition course next month."
"While working towards my initial CFI checkride, I sought out Ron Dillard as the foremost spin and tailwheel instructor in the Nashville area. Ron's cheerful and methodical approach to the subject made the process fun and comfortable. Not only did I quickly feel confident and secure in unusual attitude recovery and spin entry/recovery, I enjoyed earning the tailwheel endorsement as well. I also took away many great tips on flying and instructing in general. While thorough, Ron is also quick and efficient in his process and fair in his fee structure. Highly recommended!"
"Awesome experience! You need a tailwheel checkout this is the place to go. This retired 121 airline guy had not flown anything in several years and I needed a tailwheel check, BFR and get rid of the rust from not having flown in years. Mission accomplished! Ron is a very capable, knowledgeable instructor and I'll add patient and tolerant as I made the same mistakes everyone new to this kind of flying does. My only regret is not having enough calendar time to also have done the spin training with him. The Citabria is a really nice airplane and his is an exceptional example. Would not hesitate to do this again or rec to anyone looking for this sort of flying experience!"
