"If you truly want your children to learn life saving skills in the water, this is the program for you. I enrolled both of my boys this summer and they are about to complete their second week. Both are safely floating on their backs and thoroughly enjoying the lessons. Even practicing all of their new skills at our community pool. Of course, the first week was an adjustment. The children are pushed and challenged and made to do things they of course wouldn’t want to do otherwise.. but they’re teaching them to save their life. I only wish I had started them sooner. The instructors are all lovely and wonderful with the kids.. giving tough love where needed. It’s necessary for growth. I appreciate that as a parent. I cannot recommend them enough! My boys will be returning every year to improve and grow their skills. They look forward to hanging with Mr. Brendan and team and are so proud of all that they have accomplished while conquering their fears along the way! Such valuable lessons all around! My boys are 3 and 6, with my oldest being on the spectrum. If he can push through and accomplish, anyone can. A parents support and encouragement is vital. It’s our responsibility to keep our children safe."
"We have had an amazing experience with Brendan Sweetman Swimmers. My kids were incredibly unsafe in the water, and I was terrified for their safety. Sweetman Swimmers teaches kids to save their own life. That's their first priority. Although it is tough for kids at first (there is sometimes crying), kids are so proud of themselves when they master the skill of survival! The teachers are firm (as they must be) but truly love their students, and truly care about their safety and well-being. I would not go to any other swim lesson program. We drive 40 minutes each way to these lessons, and they often have people from OUT OF STATE who come just for lessons. I understand why -- we're so grateful for this program."
"We have used Brendan Sweetman Swimmers with all three of our children. This wonderful family has dedicated their lives to teaching the life saving skill of swimming to children for decades. Water can be deadly if kids don’t learn early on to respect the water and learn basic survival skills. Every child is different and learning can be scary and tough for new swimmers. The instructors understand this and know exactly how to safely teach the children to get over their fears and become one with the water. Kids are resilient and learn quickly when put into this extremely focused environment. It’s nothing short of remarkable what these kids are able to learn in just one week. They love the kids and push them hard to learn the basic skills that could save their lives some day!"
"This type of lesson is not for everyone but it will save your childs life. My kids were older, they had been through years of lessons at the YMCA but they still weren't confident swimmers and it scared me to watch them struggle. We have done 3 lessons with Brendan and at first I was a little overwhelmed but was reassured that I just needed to trust the process and I'm so incredibly thankful I did. My kids are swimmers now and beyond that they would know what to do in the event of a lake accident. I have younger kids (1 and almost 2) that will be starting lessons this summer. They DO NOT teach by throwing kids in the water. They eventually throw your kid in the water, but that is after they learn what to do. They start with using a life jacket with removable floats, so at first the child is floating because of the jacket, They teach them how to relax and float on the water. They then start to remove floats and the child is typically unaware that they are doing that. It is a survival method. After they have become an expert at the float, they add strokes and they are amazing at showing proper technique and safe swimming practices. Every single child should learn this. Accidents happen in just a second."
"My experience was not pleasant. In fact it makes my heart race even today as I write this. My review is for parents to read when considering using these instructors. Other parents have thanked me for my feedback on this group in social media, so I wanted to take the time to leave this review. This company basically teaches kids to swim by tossing them in the water and teaching them to float on their backs. It is a strange thing to observe. The parents have to watch from afar so the kids don't run to them for comfort. As a passer by you will hear a bunch of kids crying during the class and possibly some screaming. Before class, you will hear some kids begging their parents to leave. Why? It is terrifying, especially for the very young ones. My little boy was 18 months and loved the water before this. He won't go near it now and I am disappointed in myself for letting him suffer like he did. Eventually I pulled him, but after the damage was done. Feel free to contact me with questions. I would not try this class unless your child is at least 6, even then it can be damaging in my opinion. I keep remembering them making my little boy jump off the diving board with him screaming for help and then sinking below the water, swallowing lots of water, and crying for a long time afterwords. It has been almost a year. When I mention swimming even to this day he starts crying and saying, "Please no swimming Mama." I know everyone has different experiences. This is mine."
