Reviews of Vanderbilt University Counseling Center (UCC)
"This place is so warm and cozy. I love the artistic/modern vibes. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed. I also loved the session with my therapist. Great personality and genuinely seemed like she cared about me. The only issue I have with the UCC is the scheduling process. It seems difficult to get an appointment/reschedule. Appointments are often weeks/months out because the client:specialist ratio is unbalanced. There's not enough specialists to keep up with the demand of people who need counseling."
"I understand that it's a large campus and there are only so many counselors available, but it is very difficult to schedule an appointment, which can be discouraging. The online form is essentially useless; once you fill it out, you discover that the online scheduling does not work and you have to call. Upon calling, you find that they have no open spots for the next month. The counselor I met with was very unlike any other counselor or therapist I have met with. She seemed very cold and impatient to finish the session. Of course that was only my first impression with one counselor, so I don't want to suggest that all counselors there are always like that. It is definitely good that Vanderbilt offers this service to all students for free, but if they are going to boast that they have such great resources for students struggling with mental health, it should be more accessible."
"Pretty useless for anything other than textbook anxiety and/or depression."
