Reviews of HeartLife Soul Care
"I’m writing this review at 4am six months after our last appointment with Meredith. We turned to Heart Life during a scary health crisis for my child but, directly because of Meredith, my child now wakes up with nightmares in fear of her. The only saving grace in the “Meredith situation” is that her supervisor Cyndi Jordan gave us a free therapy session to make amends and that one session made a hugely positive impact on how us parents were dealing with the health crisis."
"My wife and I were separated and signed up for counseling as a last ditch effort to salvage our 32 year marriage. Our counselor seemed great when we were in session, but he was very non-responsive on any follow-ups, kept dropping the ball, and we never really got an opportunity to work on our marriage at all. Our first visit with him (TM) was good. He was insightful and empathetic. He then scheduled individual sessions with both of us and promised a game plan after that. However, I just spent weeks calling and emailing for a status or to find out if he would be able to work with us. Each time, he would finally respond, apologize profusely for not getting back, and then make another promise. Each time, he would drop the ball again before I finally gave up. My wife and I are now divorcing. I'm not necessarily saying he is to blame for that, but it would have been nice to at least try and work on reconciliation before divorcing. I would not recommend him this group if you really want to work on your marriage. He was unprofessional by not getting back with us. After all, we weren't waiting on a return call from a yard service - this was our marriage and super important to us. I don't know if he could have helped repair our relationship or not, but it would have been nice to at least try. I recommend looking elsewhere for your help."
"I have been seeing a Therapist with Heartlife for several years now. I have come to find out that many therapists were wrongly diagnosing me. Now that I really know what I have I am able to work better in my healing process. They are a Christian counseling center so you do have to be prepared but religion is not thrown down your throat. They have therapist that are knowledgeable is so many departments so you can find someone that is more for you. The admin people are great in helping you find the best therapist. I fully recommend this practice."
"First off, I am not posting a negative review for this place out of spite. But, I am someone who believes that one’s own experience might help someone else down the road. When I first came to Heart Life, I was basically given an assessment to help someone diagnose me, which then ended up being “Borderline Personality Disorder”. I have since then learned from a Psychiatrist at the Amen Clinic, and my current therapist that you cannot just diagnose someone with Borderline using an assessment and one 60-minute appointment. Especially when they are severely depressed, and are of course going to answer very negatively about themselves. They both said it would take ~several~ therapy sessions and very careful consideration to diagnose someone with a mental illness such as that. So it obviously turned out, that I actually do not have Borderline Personality Disorder after a few years of feeling worse about myself because of a hasty diagnosis. I was also once told by a therapist at Heart Life that my “feelings were not valid” when I told her about a situation that had really been keeping me down. I was already at a very vulnerable place in life at this time. Feelings are ALWAYS valid, whether or not your perceptions are true in the end. Instead of feeling safe with her, I usually came out of a session feeling crazy, embarrassed, and questioning my own reality. That is absolutely not what a therapy experience should be like for anyone. Your mental health is so important. Please be so, so very careful when it comes to who is guiding you in your journey to healing."
"What an incredible experience this has been. I have been going here for more than two years and here is what I’ve learned. The front desk associates are so nice, welcoming, and helpful. There are many therapists here with varying skills and specialties so if one doesn’t work for you, you can always try another. Clean facilities and COVID safe. The Christian aspect is incredible :)"
