Reviews of Vanderbilt Health Clinic at Walgreens Nippers Corner
"I had a traumatic experience happen yesterday at the Vanderbilt Walk In Clinic at the Nippers Corner Walgreens. My son, who is 2 years old, had been complaining of ear pain so I went to get it looked at to see if we needed antibiotics. As the NP was trying to look in my son’s ear with the otoscope, he was thrashing around as he didn’t want anyone to look in his ear. We both tried to hold him down but in the process the NP had the otoscope in his ear and busted his ear drum causing it to start bleeding immediately. As this is already worrisome enough, it’s actually not part of why I am so upset. Accidents happen, but the bedside manner really puts a lump in my throat. We attempted one more time when the NP threw there hands in the air and said, you just need to go to the emergency room at this point. I am only one person, I cannot constrain him and the ER will have better staff to do this. Meanwhile, there was a nurse on staff but was not asked to help. I was shocked..the ER?? For an ear infection?? NP said yes, we cannot control him and now I’m afraid I have ruptured his ear drum. This of course sent me into a panic because I came in for such a simple task and was being sent to the ER. I have never in my life been dismissed so quickly over my child. It felt like we were being rushed out the door because my kid was “bad”. I was obviously in hysterics because my seemingly innocent visit for an ear infection is now being turned into a bigger situation. I write this as a huge advocate for Vanderbilt and their care, but what I went through yesterday with my son was unacceptable. I have gotten the opinion of two separate ENTs at this point and they said that this should not have happened at all. If you have a child that may not cooperate, do not bring them here. They do not have the staff or bedside manner to help your child. There was no sorry, no please let me call the ER to tell them you are on the way, no please let me get your number so I can check on him later to see how he is doing. I am appalled and disappointed."
"My recommendation is to avoid this clinic at all costs. My wife was seen at this clinic for flu-like symptoms, cough, headache, fever earlier this month. She checked in 5 minutes before her appointment time in which she was rudely told by the front desk, "we're closed, we're still on lunch for 5 more minutes" and she turned all of the lights off. The NP insisted on testing for strep, even though my wife told her she has had a tonsillectomy and had a cough. If the NP had used the Centor Scoring to determine the actual need for a strep test, she would have seen that my wife's score was ZERO indicating NO need for a $100 strep test. Flu/Covid test cost $474, which is absolutely unbelievable. This extreme price was not communicated. She tested positive for Flu A after having to direct the NP to this conclusion. We have BCBS insurance and this visit was still $372!!! Charting during this visit was extremely inaccurate, and the clinic staff was NOT helpful in explaining the costs of testing. They were extremely rude when my wife called following receiving the bill. It is very apparent the primary NP and staff at this location does not know what they are doing. I spoke with my insurance company and they stated they have never seen prices this high for any of these services. This clinic is well above market pricing and lack professionalism. Easily the worst healthcare experience you can receive."
"Was there on time for my appointment. They immediately told me it takes too long to visit me ( Nobody in line ) and they are not able to give me the results today ! Don’t waste my time to drive there with a bad health condition and and hear this !!!! It’s a Shame"
"Very bad experience. Go Somewhere else. The doctor or LPN was uncaring. I went in on 03/30/23 to request a few blood pressure pills to make it through till April. I get sick without these. I explained that I had just finished paying their $240 bill from three months ago (yes, $240 for a 15 minute visit to get a refill on blood pressure medicine) and just needed a few more until my insurance kicked in in April. It seemed that she did not care about my situation or health issue whatsoever as there was no new money in it for her. This was very shocking as I have always had the utmost respect for the Vanderbilt organization in the past."
"These clinics are advertised as a low cost, up-front option and my experience ended up being the exact opposite. I feel bait and switched and will not be returning here or to any other Walgreens clinic run by Vanderbilt. Beware if you come here uninsured, make sure you ask about the cost of everything. Or else they will not tell you and bill you for it later. The woman who checked me in charged me the expected $119 for the visit and assured me that any additional cost would be clearly communicated for me to agree to. She stated this multiple times. I was tested for COVID and Strep. I agreed to the tests being administered, but there was absolutely no discussion of them costing extra. I was repeatedly told additional costs would be made clear, and none were communicated, so I assumed the tests were covered in the visitation fee. Fast forward a week and a half and I'm receiving a bill of $195 for the cost of the tests. One COVID rapid test for $175 alone. I would have just bought a $25 one down the aisle of the store, if I'd known or been told it would cost 7x more from the clinic. Now a $119 visit will cost me over $300 total. I called Vanderbilt billing and explained this. The agent told me it wasn't noted that I was uninsured and she would submit this charge for review. Now I wait for 2 weeks to see if they'll discount the costs I was never told about. This is why people just don't go to the doctor. I had no way to plan for this expense and I trusted this clinic. Well now I can say it won't be happening again."
