"He is very old fashioned. He does not check you properly. Every visit is less than 5 minutes long. They do not test you regularly at all. I came in for a visit because I had extreme pelvic pain and a sharp stabbing pain going down my arms only to find out he was not in the office. The nurse said she would have him call me back with what he thinks is wrong, I never received a phone call. At a previous appointment he told be to take ibuprofen for my pelvic pain. This is my second pregnancy I know for sure women are not to take ibuprofen while pregnant, it can harm the baby. Im curently 27 weeks looking for a new doctor. When I called to let them know I was ending my care with him the nurse was extremely quick to say ok and hung up the phone. Also he never told me how far along I was or my conception date. I had to find that out from the emergency room. Hope this helps"
"Where do I even start? I'm going to try to make this short. I can't find a single positive thing to say about Dr. Boerner or his staff/office. His office is very dirty. Layers of dust on everything in the exam rooms. At 30 weeks he did an ultrasound and did not mention that I had placenta previa. I found out a few weeks later when I had massive bleeding, contractions, pain and had to go to the ER. My case was so severe that they transferred me to centennial and kept me for four days. When I went back to his office he tried to cover his tracks and said he knew that I had placenta previa but didn't tell me because it wasn't "that bad" so he didn't want to scare me. (placenta previa is serious and uncommon in every case. Risks include hemorrhaging, blood transfusions, emergency hysterectomy, and possible fatality) he should have told me that I had it and I wouldn't have been having sex. I could have lost my baby. Not to mention he treats me like I'm incompetent and ignorant at every visit. Doesn't like answering my questions and tries to rush through every "exam/visit". I'm not comfortable with him delivering my baby but he will not refer me to another high risk doctor so now (at 36 weeks. And supposed to be having a scheduled C-section in one week) I have to find a new high risk doctor on my own. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. UPDATE: had a few terrible bleeding episodes and went to Vanderbilt ER. They rushed me to surgery and turns out I had acreta also. Long story short I almost lost my life and my baby's due to Dr. Boerner's carelessness. I'm going to try to add photos. This was supposed to be a regular C-section and I had to be put to sleep and given a blood transfusion as well from all the blood loss."
"This doctor should not be practicing medicine. I had my first baby with him several years ago when I was young and naive, and trusted him with my care. I was not informed as I am now, having since had three more children and educating myself on childbirth and my rights as a patient. My experience with Dr Boerner was traumatic. I was uninformed but knew I wanted as natural a birth as possible. What I took to be a kind demeanor throughout turned condescending and belittling toward the end of my pregnancy. Around 38 weeks Dr Boerner began pressuring me to set an induction date. I wanted to go into labor naturally. This doctor is one to want babies born on his schedule. I felt pressured to do as I was told. I set up an induction date for two days before my due date. I cancelled it after a lot of stress, knowing that was not what I wanted. Soon after cancelling, I received a call from the doctor himself. I don't remember the details but soon thereafter I was in his office (like, his office. I'm assuming this was some kind of intimidation tactic). He asked me again why I cancelled the induction. I felt like I was being reprimanded in the principal's office. Like.. what reason could I possibly have to not want this induction? I told him I wanted a natural birth and to go into labor naturally. Immediately his tone became more tense, urging me to induce as my blood pressure was getting high (it was not high enough to mention induction. Low-end pre-hypertensive, 120s over 80s. Not great but not dangerous in the least.) He then pulled the dead baby card. How my blood pressure could cause my baby to die, and my placenta wouldn't be working as well past my due date (absolutely no reason to assume this, no third-tri US, no NSTs, no signs of distress or low fluid, etc). He just threw a bunch of scare tactics at a young, dumb first-time mother-to-be so I ended up rescheduling an induction. This is getting long, but the birth itself was traumatic. I don't remember all that was used but there was a Foley bulb, AROM before Pitocin was even started (that is just asking for complications BTW), maybe cytotec but not 100% on that. This could have become a C-section very easily with all that was done. Remember how I wanted a "natural" birth? I didn't know how much more painful Pitocin contractions are than natural ones. I ended up with an epidural, but not until after trying the IV "analgesics" first. I wasn't aware that those are narcotics and make you extremely loopy. It didn't touch the pain either. I didn't know the risks and I was hopelessly out of it for the rest of my stay (there was also a narcotic given after delivering for the intense pain thanks to the routine episiotomy I received...). I think this affected bonding with my baby in those crucial first hours and days and contributed to severe PPD (something I have not experienced at all with my younger children). Back to the birth itself - unless this has changed in the past several years, Doctor Boerner performs routine episiotomies. This is not recommended and has not been for a long time! This was seriously traumatic and it literally took months to heal (vs days with my subsequent natural births in which there was no tearing). If something is medically indicated that is one thing. But this doctor is a relic of a dark past of obstetrics where women were sliced and diced and births were "managed" to the convenience of the doctor, not to the emotional or physical well-being of the mother or baby. The number of unnecessary interventions is a huge reason why the maternal and neonatal mortality rates in the US are staggeringly high. Dr Boerner needs to retire. On another note, I'm not even going to go into the front desk HIPAA violations. Gossipping about patients so the whole waiting room can hear, names and other sensitive info mentioned, etc. Ugh."
"Dr. Boerner is great. He delivered me when i was born, he has delivered my son. I had a miscarriage 9 months ago him and his staff were great through the process. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and is going great.staff is nice and he is very thorough and good to his patients"
"Dr. Boerner was amazing! His staff was always polite. You only sit in the waiting room for 10 minutes tops. I began seeing him in April 2014 after discovering that I was pregnant. I developed preeclampsia, and Dr. Boerner immediately put me on bed rest and began seeing me weekly. If I came to an appointment and he saw anything that concerned him, I was immediately sent to the hospital to be evaluated. He was polite but stern during labor and delivery. Due to my preeclampsia, I had an emergency delivery at 35 weeks therefore it was a little more stressful than your average delivery. During and after delivery he thoroughly explained what was happening and made sure I understood. I could not have asked for a better doctor. He may come off as rude to a "pansy" (for lack of a better word), however I prefer to be told what I need to be told and I do not expect anyone to hold my hand while doing so. I definitely intend to see him if I decide to have anymore children. I would not go anywhere else!"
