Reviews of Mission Discovery Short Term Mission Trips
"Our trip to Westmoreland was brilliant. The team over at Mission Discovery does a great job prepping us for the trip and takes care of practically all the logistics. The volunteers they get as well help feed and lead our crew allowing the trip to run smoothly. Our group was also had the opportunity not just to work and serve through physical labor but also getting to pour into and share the Gospel with the person we were helping. Couldn't have asked for a better trip to do with our group!"
"Great trip to Puerto Rico We loved our trip with Mission Discovery! Everyone was kind and helpful and loving, and we enjoyed getting to know the youth group and individuals that were on the trip with us. Worship together each night was awesome! We also got to eat yummy lunches cooked for us by the Puerto Rican locals. The only suggestion I have is to make sure that there is enough work for everyone on the trip. There were times when we really had too many people for the work that needed to be done. That can be a bit demoralizing... but overall it was still an amazing trip!"
"Life Changing Experience From the planning and preparation to the trip itself, Mission Discovery was in control, completely organized, and made our first mission trip easy. Our experiences were life changing. We saw God in building a home for a family of four. We encountered God's mercy and joy when we delivered food to poverty stricken people who live with no roof. We found God in a local school where we painted a mural of Psalm 91. We prayed with locals, ate together, and worked together. I came home with a new perspective, more compassion and patience, and new friends. I highly recommend Mission Discovery."
"Puerto Rico Poem 2023 Sunday July 2nd we loaded our American flight Headed to Puerto Rico, a mission trip in our sight. Our bags were under 50 pounds, carry-ons and more Toiletries, linens, clothes and tons of snacks galore. We brought work clothes and gloves, closed-toed shoes To a mountain top location with a gorgeous view. It had several floors of rooms and a nice swimming pool An AC place for chapel, tables outside to stay cool. Put nothing in the toilets but number one or two Or you'll be getting it back when your potty time is through. We've got mountains, trees with flowers, lots of sun and heat There's Puerto Rican food of rice, beans and meat. The lunch that's made each morning is PB and J There's water, chips and cookies added to lunch for mid-day. Sometimes the locals treat us to a Puerto Rican lunch Appreciated by us all, we have eaten a whole bunch. We wake, dress, make lunches, a breakfast to start Quiet time and devos, for worksites we depart. We've shoveled sand into buckets, then a bucket brigade Hand it up a level, in a corner it's dumped and laid. There's footings to be poured and concrete to make Buckets and wheelbarrows, the concrete to take. Some trucks we did washing, and there was food we gave out A trip to Walmart, for some things we forgot about. We emptied a house, then began to tear it down Tin roof off, plywood walls, all taken to the ground. Another spot demolished, a tall cinder block wall Broke it into pieces then to a pile to haul. A party bus would drive some, with music, smoke and lights Through narrow streets and tight spots, to our working sites. We had a few rain showers to help cool off one day It helped to drop the temps a bit, but didn't hang around to stay. After work was pool time, showers and a meal Followed up by chapel, praising God for how we feel. Then small groups and free time, basketball, pool, a card game Then 10:30 for bed time, each night was just the same. The last day was a free day San Juan forts and to shop Pigeon park, photo opps, lunch and a beach stop. Back for dinner and packing up, one more Chapel night Then breakfast and clean-up, bussed back for our flight. "Yay God" for this journey and the opportunity to care Help us take our stories, give us Your words when we share."
"This was the first mission trip for my daughter(14) and I and it was amazing all around. Josh and intern Jack were the perfect guides. Full of patience and love, which is a big deal when working with a large group of kids. The facility was beautiful in its own way.. and the food, amazing! My perspective has changed on many things, my heart is so full after building these homes and meeting with the family. They were so so grateful, out there every day with us to help. I am honored I was able to do this with my church family. My heart and outlook on life is forever changed and I am looking forward to the next mission trip! Keep doing what you’re doing Mission Discovery, you are changing the world!"
