"Dr. Cox is an AMAZING doctor. I have been with her for more than 15 years and credit her with my ability to live a healthier and happier life. She is expert and empathetic."
"Dr. Cox is a great surgeon. Terrible doctor in office. I tried contacting her for 3 days in a row 1 week post-surgery for extreme pain that was worse than immediately after surgery and was feeling better. The nurses would call me back after I left a message, ask my symptoms and issues, and then would say she would call me back. I never got a response until I called the emergency on call line on the third day, and just told me to go to the ER. ER diagnosed me with a bladder infection but could not determine the cause of my pain. I left a message with the office manager saying that I was frustrated with Dr. Cox and felt ignored and neglected as a patient. I then got an appointment 2 days later, which would be the first time I would see her post-surgery. At the appointment she yelled at me, called me a liar, and said I should come and talk to her when I am frustrated with her. She also said I shouldn't have called the office manager and that it undermined the "trust" we had (literally had one appointment with her prior to surgery; there is no trust to be had) with each other. She also said I was refusing treatment for my endometriosis after I had explained to her that the treatment, hormonal birth control, has made me suicidal in the past and is not a viable option for me in any form. Do not go to her if you are medically complex at all."
"I had surgery yesterday and am doing great! Had a stage 4 prolapsed uterus and am so excited about putting that behind me! Dr. Joy Cox is great! Thank you Dr. Cox! Also love TriStar Centennial Women’s Hospital. The staff was wonderful and the facility was spotless!"
"Dr. Cox is great! She's friendly, super knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate. I had complete trust in her the entire time, from my first visit to my post-op check up. She's very welcoming, which helped me tremendously as I was incredibly nervous about a new doctor and not knowing what I was in for. Not only is she great but her office staff is probably the best all around from any doctor's office I've ever visited. They're all incredibly sweet and considerate and the communication prior to my surgery was absolutely top-notch, which made a nerve-wracking scenario at least a little bit better."
"Dr. Cox and her nurse were both so professional and kind. I worry about being treated well at the doctor because I am fat and so sometimes people in general, doctors and nurses included, don’t treat me with the same gentleness and kindness as they do other people. Dr. Cox listened to me and took my concerns seriously. She took time to explain options to me and during the exam she kept me informed about what she was doing (which I feel always helps me relax a bit). She ordered all the necessary tests instead of just blaming everything on my weight and although “losing weight” was mentioned it wasn’t the only possible solution mentioned. As someone who has weight cycled for the past 17 years who is now trying to embrace HAES and learn how to take care of my body in a holistic and kind way versus trying to beat it into submission or starve myself thin, doctors offices can be very scary. I was so pleasantly surprised and relieved after my appointment I literally cried. Dr. Cox is one of the kindest doctors I’ve ever met and I hope she gets every single good thing she wishes for in this life and the next."
