Reviews of People's Barber & Shop
"People are nice, free drinks are cool, and the fades always look good. But the rest of the cut is pretty mid. I’ve gone 3 or 4 times to three different barbers and always ended up staring at a mirror when I get home wondering what I said wrong to end up looking like this. I even brought in a picture of what I wanted and left with the top of my head barely getting cut at all. For 70$ + tip I would expect something better."
"Skin fade from Jason had a noticeable, harsh line rather than an invisible line with smooth gradient. After trying several times to fix a crooked mustache edge up, the shape was still off. It costs $60 for a poor haircut, which is wildly high compared to the ~$40 I paid elsewhere for an actually good, five-star quality precision fade. I drove 15 min to Oakland and paid another shop to fix the fade."
"Booked a haircut for a particular hairstylist, and minutes before the appointment the place changed my stylist saying he was sick. When I went, the stylist was there on the premise and working on another client. The substitute stylist was at best below average. She gave me my worst haircut in five years. She was polite but unfortunately not skilled enough. Most stylists I know face the mirrors so you at least have an idea as to what is being done to your hair. In this case, I was not facing the mirror but facing the door. This didn't make sense to me. She also had long nails which kept interfering with my scalp and face. Didn't enjoy the outcome and never returning here."
"Rhonda is great but otherwise they have rather rude and impatient staff. When you pay about $60 for a 30 min haircut, you expect that the barber is going to try and do justice to the haircut you wanted but instead I’ve been given uneven haircuts multiple times until I met Rhonda(who is brilliant btw). Some of the other barbers are rude and impatient and will downright reject to take you because you asked your hair to be cut a certain way and weren’t satisfied. Their mantra is pay $60, sit for 30 mins and be happy with the haircut we give you(in 30 mins) or you can find some other barbershop."
"I had an excellent experience at The People’s Barbershop on Townsend Street in downtown San Francisco (South of Market). The People’s Barbershop has several locations in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Oakland). The shop is modern, clean, well lite, and has qualified and talented barbers. Luckily, personal services have been deemed safe in the city, and like so many, I was in need of a haircut. The People’s Barbershop takes walk-in and appointments, but, I highly recommend making an appointment online. This can be easily done on their website, just pick the location and you can pick the barber and the service needed. Most appointments are in 30 - 45 minute increments based on the service you need. One of the best features about the site is that you can see a picture of the barber, select a service and see their professional Instagram page. This is a clutch feature, especially if you’re getting your haircut for the first time, by a new barber, which was my experience. I got a cut from Cristian and it was excellent. He is professional, talented, and personable. I highly recommend the brand and if you’re in need of a good barber, schedule an appointment with him."
