Reviews of Daniel's Shoe & Boot Repair
"I was very happy with my service and have gone to them a few times to get my boots cleaned. This time I brought in my coach purse that I got secondhand. The purse was worn out and the red was starting to lift (based on the first few photos). I took it to the shop and asked if it would be possible to renew the bag. I think they did a great job. It only cost $50 and I feel that is a fair price for this type of work. It took about 1-2 weeks to be ready, because it was a special color. They called me once the bag was ready and I was very happy with my service."
"I'm a boot man and I took my favorite boots to Daniel's for extensive work. I not only needed my toe and heels redone but I also needed new zippers and for him to fix a hole that I had done to one boot. He did a fantastic job! Not only did he fix my boots he also put new soles on my little boys boots as well. A great place to go if you are nostalgic about having work done at an old school boot repair shop. He is also very friendly. I'll be back."
"Update 1/2023 I no longer support this business with my money or verbal recommendation. I'm pro-cobbler. When you have a fine pair of shoes that you want to restore, Daniel's would have been highly recommended. I don't try to interfere with local businesses economy unless their practices become shady. I've had at least a dozen shoes restored here in the past three years. I've had six leather purses restored or repaired. So certainly as a loyal customer I would expect the same type of honor system. Unfortunately he's not consistent with his prices. He overcharges comparable to other cobblers within the city. He is inconsistent in his customer loyalty. I can fairly state that his prices are in the "rip-off" range. Also, he requires a deposit on your order and asks funny style if you disagree with the quality of work. I do not recommend this business. However, he does have a lot of name brand purses at cheap prices that customers have left behind. ***** Having a reliable cobbler is golden. Investing in excellent quality of shoes is essential for a top-notch wardrobe. A magnificent cobbler can always rejuvenate an old pair of shoes. Just like what Botox does for wrinkles, lol. I've been coming to Daniel's for about 4 years but I also patronize other cobblers. If you're in a pinch come to Daniel's. If you're not in a pinch go elsewhere. I don't believe he has a standard practice of prices and it may change based on his emotions or the day of the week or the customer. His prices definitely are not transparent. You may also be misled because he will say that you can't get your shoes up par but trust me you can. I've been going to cobbler's for more than two decades and many cobblers can do much work. It depends on their "want to." My experience(S) here, even as a loyal customer, is that he won't talk you through different options and he will go straight to "no". He also will overcharge comparable to other cobblers. And to be fair he knows what he knows. He probably doesn't keep abreast of new current trends in cobblerism. So is he misleading or lacks knowledge. To know or not to know that is the question. High Fives Sole replacement and shoe color dye Cheap brand purses, for customers that forgot or donated Thumbs Down Prices are not transparent Cutting edge knowledge no phone call if your items have been there too long Meh Quality of work can be hit or miss (but he repaired 3 pairs of boots and rejuvenated the color and they are on fleek). He's good at that You have choices don't commit to something because you think you have to."
"Greatly pleased with their work. Brought in a pair of work shoes that I swear were no good anymore. I presented them to the gentleman and he gladly took them, when I came back in to pick them up, they were clean, polished, and repaired. I was truly impressed by his work!"
"Initially brought in two pairs of vintage shoes. I wanted to have some sealant added to the interior of my red & white Spectators, although they were new (never worn) they had been improperly stored by my aunt and the leather was starting to peel on the interior. Plus the heel tips had fallen off. Despite being the only customer, the gentleman was very dismissive and gave me the impression he was only interested in doing the minimal amount of work. He insisted nothing could be done to them and wasn't even interested in discussing the other pair, which I was interested in having them resoled. I was charged $10 for the heel tip replacement and told they'd be ready in 3 days. When I returned, I just picked up my shoes and quickly left. When I got home. I couldn't have been more disappointed. In exchange for the $10 I paid, I was given the poorest quality heel tips (these things cost mere cents by the bulk) I have ever seen. The metal is exposed, as you can see. One of them was crooked. To add insult to injury my shoes weren't even cleaned. Besides being visually obvious, I applied cleaner/conditioner, and the dirt on the rag confirmed it. Also I purchased a sealant and treated the insoles my self. An easy fix that didn't affect the texture or esthetic of my shoes. It was a blessing in disguise he didnt touch my other shoes, which are much nicer than these. Needless to say, I will never return. I've also included what a pair of heel tips typically look like for visual reference."
