"A zipper came off one side of the track on a pair of boots I have. I called Balboa Shoe Repair back in March to see if they could fix it and spoke to a gentleman on the phone. He said it would be no problem to fix, quoted a price of $20 to fix, and I sent him photos of the zipper as he requested, and drove down from San Marcos two weeks later to drop my boots off. When I arrived, he didn’t remember our conversation, said he couldn’t fix it, said he wouldn’t have quoted $20, and basically said he couldn’t help me, which was a very bizarre experience. Since autumn is approaching, I’d like to wear my boots and began researching how to fix a zipper that came off the track one side of a boot. Lo and behold, it’s a relatively simple process that doesn’t require replacement of the zipper at all, and can be done by any experienced cobbler or sewist in 15 minutes. This is indicative that this man is not experienced in a rather simple cobblery technique. My experience with this facility has been extremely disappointing to say the least."
