"My family have gone to Leon for years to get their teeth cleaned. It's not just that he's remarkably gentle and thorough, he also cares. He keeps an eye out for anything concerning and always answers questions knowledgeably. (My wife says Leon cares about her teeth almost as much as she does!) Actually, all the people who work at this Smilecare office have been unfailingly kind and friendly."

"My family and I have been going to Smilecare for years, both for dental and orthodontics. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The oral hygienist is gentle and puts you at ease right away. I feel they are honest and trustworthy. Staff is very accomodating and goes out of there way to schedule an appointment you might need in a hurry."

"It's bit of a scam. I went for a first time checkup and basic cleaning, which is fully covered by the insurance. These guys refused to give me my basic cleaning, which is covered. They insisted that i MUST take the next level of cleaning which would cost me some amount of money. After discussing with them that I would like to first get the base cleaning done, and then later the more expensive stuff, they flat out refused. Their logic is that THEY get to decide what I NEED to have done. And they can choose to refuse dental treatment. Then at checkout, I owed them 5 bucks- and they insisted that I use a credit card which they would like to keep on hold if I choose to come back. I had to fight with them to give them a 5 dollar bill to even get the hell out of there. They clearly have a systematic way of scamming people and insurances for money. Don't let them do it at your cost! I would give them negative stars if possible."

"This place is terrible. A total RIP OFF. There was a long wait and I was forced to take more x-rays than I'd ever had in my entire life. I didn't need or want x-rays and they told me I could not have a basic cleaning without them. They then had their office manager come in for a sales pitch regarding the different types of cleanings. It was so sleazy. I was told I owed over $300 for a cleaning upon check out and they told me I had "great insurance." Today, I just received another bill for an additional $30. I will never go there again. STAY AWAY!"

"I want everyone to know that SmileCare in Mission Valley is a hoax! I first went to their office in April. I sat in the dentist's chair for nearly 8 hours while she ran back and forth between two different rooms doing God knows what. The billing staff told me their system's billing codes had been input incorrectly and that they had to delete and input the correct codes so that they could appropriately bill for services. (Yeah right). Furthermore, they were in contact with my insurance company to ensure the services that were going to be done would be covered. This explains why such a long wait. The services were covered and cleared. I signed off on what I wanted to have done and explained I'd look at the other services during the next benefit period of my dental coverage. Unbeknownst to me, the staff and team lied. They hadn't spoken with my insurance company. The were actually changing their billing to fit the particular plan coverage, to ensure they got the biggest amount reimbursed and the write-off amount charged off to me. I got my broker involved after calling to speak with the billing manager, whom Susie at the front desk said would be calling me back. Mind you, this started May 2, after receiving a bill. For more than two months my broker and I called. The front desk staff took our messages but the accounts/billing manage never called back. Wouldn't you know it, it's now October and I receive a collections notice! I'm livid so I call the office again asking for office manager. Susie, who answered the phone, proclaimed she is the office manager. I go on my tangent about this whole situation and was told she would be calling me back to get this resolved. YOU GUESSED IT! She never calls. The next call I get is from Jesus, the supposed collections manager for the San Diego district - this call came in yesterday. He appeared so genuinely concerned that things weren't quite what they should be at the Smile Care location in Mission Valley and he needed to know dates and times of calls made to the office so that he could build his case to help get this resolved. I'm feeling hopeful that this nightmare is coming to and end. Today I get a call that he can't do anything that although, in his words, the staff lied to me, it is still my responsibility to pay the outstanding amount the insurance didn't page. He mentioned Dustin, the district manager of operation and he couldn't do anything at this point. Now I'm beside myself! What frustration and anger....I'm now taking my complaint to the internet to keep others from being victimized by these con artists. When I pull up the Smile Care location, I see there are others who've had very back experiences with these folks. Well, I've placed a call to the patients relations manager at Coast Dental who I'm hoping will be calling me back to get this resolved, first starting with removing me from collections - you can't send someone to collections when there is an open dispute! I'll keep talking until I feel I've been vindicated! DON'T GO TO SMILE CARE....!!!!"
