The EX Salon

"I went to get a root touch-up and a cut/trim. I want to first state that this was my first time going here and that Tony, was super nice and talkative. And I don’t have anything personally against him but this is just based solely on the outcome of my hair: With that though, I had showed Tony pics of how I wanted my curly hair to be in order for volume and style and I feel unfortunately that Tony didn’t have enough experience with curly hair to cut my hair to compliment my face or to cut my curls in a way that recognized that when my hair was not blown dried straight, my hair would act differently. Originally Tony was going to cut off 2 inches, until I told him only 1inch because my hair was already quite short. With the layer ing he did which I wanted, I think he did not consider what my hair would look like when in its natural curl state, but instead only when straight, and unfortunately I am now left with the aftermath task of figuring out how to make my hair work and look at least ok until it grows longer. With my root touch up, I found it was interesting that he did color match my hair with anything and just went off memory, but as I’ve washed it it seems like my hair wasn’t color matched but instead just died darker at the roots. But, it’s only be a couple days so I’m still going to see if my color starts to match. Lastly, i think the salon is used to working with straight hair so it maybe was partially my fault for going to a place that seems to mainly work with a special hair type. But I also, feel that any salon should be able to work somewhat with curly hair, and the means even cutting some parts of the curly hair dry in order to assure what the natural result will look like since I don’t blow dry or straighten my hair… like ever. The final blow out that Tony gave I don’t think even looked very well styled when I walked out, unfortunately. I think I looked like a 90s girl with bangs and my hair blowed dried inward toward. The final result even straight wasn’t the best look. Tony didn’t seem very confident in it either, which obviously made me not feel 100% about it, I walked out and put my hair in a buns (or tried) but it was pretty short so it’s been hard the last couple days figuring out what to do with it until it grows out. Just trying to be honest, again the people at the salon are super nice and friendly but I think when it comes to curly hair the salon has some work to do on understanding how curly hair works and the patterns and stylings of it."
