"Nobody could have predicted it, but my grandmother passed away less than two weeks after we got approved. ElderLife managed to make this heartbreaking experience even worse. ElderLife representatives were not allowed to speak to another family member who was making payments on the account. Each time she tried to call about making payments, the representatives told her they could only talk to my grandma. Despite the fact that they were also allowed to speak to me, and despite repeatedly telling them that my grandma had passed away, every time this family member called, the only solution or guidance representatives were able to offer was to have my grandma call them from beyond the grave. Since nobody would talk with this family member on the phone, she had to make payments online. The recurring payments she set up (correctly, according to the website) never actually went through. Again, nobody at ElderLife would help her with this. Eventually, an error occurred and the full remaining amount was taken from her (when she had authorized less than 4% of that amount!). This caused significant financial hardship. When I tried calling about cancelling the payment, ElderLife representatives noted an overcharge, but told me I'd have to call back ten days later to allow for "processing." Of course, on that tenth day they told me there was no way they would repay any of it. They also denied seeing the overcharge they originally admitted to. Incidentally, this was the first time I didn't have to tell anyone my grandma died - go figure. (Update: after I wrote this review, ElderLife reached out about repaying the overcharge, which is greatly appreciated! However, it is worth noting that the “overcharge” was only about 5% of the total amount that was taken without permission.) Additionally, I was still receiving mail from ElderLife addressed to my grandma, who never lived at that address, for over a year after she had passed. I am thankful such emotional and financial hardships seem pretty rare based on the other reviews, but I wanted to share about ours because I wouldn't wish this on anyone (especially anyone already in mourning). At the very least, I hope ElderLife finds a way to note on accounts when the senior has passed away, and/or permit their representatives to offer the slightest bit of guidance to people who are having trouble making payments beyond communicating with the deceased."
"Lindsay Woodlief and ElderLife Financial exceeded all expectations in assisting my mother and me during a challenging period. As the sole caregiver for my disabled 71-year-old mother, I faced a critical situation when her health required a move to an independent care facility. Adding to the complexity, her financial situation appeared overwhelming, and we were turned away by multiple banks for the necessary bridge loan. Enter Lindsay from ElderLife Financial, recommended by the care facility. From our first call, Lindsay's warmth was palpable, providing much-needed support during a trying time. She worked tirelessly to secure the financing required for my mother's transition, ensuring her safety and the beginning of a brighter chapter in her life. Lindsay's dedication went above and beyond – she even called after hours to share the news of our approved loan. I am indebted to Lindsay and ElderLife Financial for making the impossible possible. This five-star review is a heartfelt tribute to the exceptional service and compassion that made a significant impact on our lives."
"Very quick and painless process. It was a huge help to us, in that in-between time of needing to get mom into assisted living immediately and needing the cash to do so, prior to her house getting sold. I would not hesitate to recommend Elderlife."
"Obtaining the loan was fairly easy and the agent was very helpful. However, when the situation changed ElderLife Financial was totally un-helpful, the loan is useless to us now. The funds were to assist a move to a Senior Living Center out of state. Unfortunately, Mom's health deteriorated and the day they were to move she was sent to the hospital. Mom passed away less than 2 weeks later. We requested the ability to use the loan for funeral costs in lieu of memory care facility costs, but we were denied. The loan is now useless and the origination costs a complete loss to my father and an additional burden with no benefit."
"Such a pleasure that 5 stars is not enough. By far the best financial institution I have ever worked with. Jeremy made the entire process painless from beginning to end. He exceeded our expectations. This company delivers results. Highly recommended !!! Shawn G."
