"My mother has been in their nursing home for over a year and still, they are understaffed with a high turnover and the training is close to negligent. They're barely teaching anything in CNA classes and most of the instructions probably start with, "DO NOT...". The nursing staff are comprised of burned out workers who feel put upon and pressured to work every time there's a call out (staff can't come in). There is more gossip than professionalism. In essence, if you are not there everyday advocating for your loved one, their health and happiness will decline rapidly. There are enough activities going on during the day for things to appear as if the place is thriving, but visit on the weekends and in the evenings and make sure you visit the longer-term care wings on the second floor, because they will only show you the first floor rehab so you get the wrong impression that they are fully staffed and attentive. The ground floor is by far more appealing and cleaner than the second floor. And the administrative and nursing staff will talk to you like they fully intend to make changes, and then you find out that it's going to be the same as it always has been...."
