Dr. Lopa H. Shah, DDS 1214 Apollo Way, Sunnyvale, CA 94085

"My wife and I went to Dr. Lopa Shah on 11/15/2022 for dental cleaning. We have Aetna Medicare Plus (HMO) plan. The assistant took our dental x-rays but, Dr. Shah did NOT perform dental cleaning for me saying that deep cleaning was needed. Dr. Shah also told us that she doesn't accept our dental HMO insurance and demanded payment at the time of service. We paid the full amount and got receipt. As we paid entire amount at the time of service, the balance was zero, nothing was due further. Since my Aetna plan required me to submit EOB statement from dentist and receipt of payment in order reimburse our claim, I did so for both of us. Surprisingly and without our knowledge, Dr. Shah also submitted her claim to Aetna, even though she was NOT supposed to do so. Aetna paid her claim and Dr. Shah encashed Aetna check. Not only she got paid full amount from both of us but also she got the money from Insurance. In claiming the amount from Aetna when NOTHING was due from both of us, she committed a fraud. On 14 December, Aetna representative and I spoke to Dr. Shah and she said her claim was submitted by mistake. Submitting Claim to insurance when NO amount was due from patient is not a mistake; it is a fraud. Moreover, if it was a mistake, she should should NOT accepted their check, and instead returned it to Aetna insurance. None of this has happened. She is also refusing now to accept calls from Aetna. I am writing to caution prospective and current patients about this dentist. I have evidence to prove and stand by what I have said above."
