Reviews of Carriage Hill Apartments
"Great cheap apartments. My unit didn’t have a washer and dryer hookups so I had to have it in the kitchen and the maintenance did provide me with a box for the dryer vent to go into. It was an older apartment so nothing fancy. The AC unit was very loud but we had no issues with staff or neighbors. Pest was under control as well. Never had any issues with pest. The pool was slightly unpleasant to swim in. Overall, the place needs a little reno but other than that, it’s a great place for the price."
"The apartments are not bad. We moved in March 2 days later we where harassed by police because my daughter is gay and the lady over us harassed my daughter so much that the police wouldn't respond because they where nothing wrong except my daughters looks I assume because we never talked to anyone to Like or not like us. After being harassed by this lady for 6 months Leslie evicted us for harassment instead! Worst management ever !"
"The price living there for the sq ft they had to offer was pretty good, but we had MULTIPLE leaks and maintenance issues EVERY week if not on a daily. They couldn't care less and usually wouldn't help. Anytime they did "help" they left the place a mess and got our stuff dirty on top of that. The maintenance man lived above us and would often scream and yell too, was disruptive to say the least. We were SO happy to get out of this place."
"Let me start by saying that these apartments are not bad, but they are kinda old/dated. I like how spacious these apartments are and I had washer/dryer connections in my apartment for a decent price before I noticed that they raised them, which is why I will be leaving after my lease ends. These apartments have 3 levels of apartments. Basement (which is what I stayed in), ground level, and upper level. The apartments are quiet and convenient to EVERYTHING. I'm 10 minutes from my job, my gym, a million grocery stores and restaurants, and great access to the highway. Parking was assigned in the building I lived in, but not sure about the rest of them. Living in the basement apartment, my utilities durring the summer were never higher than $70 for the A/C, but durring the winter it would be about $90-110 or more to heat my house. Kitchen applicances are old, BUT they work really well. The maintenance/office staff is super nice and respond to emails kind of quickly depending on when you send them. Now, my issue with the place and the reason I give this place 3 stars is because of maintenance forgetting about my requests while being in the middle of fixing them. I've had verious issues with leaks, but the two most major and recent issues have required me to send multiple emails to remind them that I still have a request in progress. Currently, I have a giant hole in my ceiling that was caused by a leak in an upper apartment, but the master bathroom that the issue is in has been unuasable for about 2-3 weeks now. Thankfully, I have a second full bath to be able to use, but its mildly irritating to not be able to use the bathroom connected to my room. Another example is when I had a leaking lightswitch. They started the fix in September, but didn't come back and finish (after I reminded them) in November. I probably could have said something sooner, but I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and not blast them with emails because I'm sure they have their hands full. In conclusion, Carriage Hill isn't terrible, but it's not going to be the first place I recommend to anyone."
"I’ve been living at Carriage Hill Apartments since August 2019. I want to start with the good because there is good. I love the location. I’m a student at UTK, and the drive there is super easy on Western Avenue. It also isn’t too much trouble to get to West Town Mall or downtown. There’s an interstate entrance/exit nearby, and I have never had trouble getting parking close to where I live. I like the price of the apartments especially on a student budget. The layout of my apartment is also quite nice in my opinion. Maintenance has always fixed problems quickly and without fuss. My boyfriend and I have always had wonderful phone service at the complex. I’m on Sprint and he’s on Verizon. By the office there’s a pool which is clean and well-kept and there are grills nearby. My favorite thing though is the windows and the view from them. I live on the very top of the hill, so I get lovely views of the sunset over the mountains. My back windows look over a wooded area, so I don’t get the sunrise waking me up. All the windows are very large and can open fully so you can get fresh air any time with no problems. For anyone interested, there’s also a lot of patio space out the back door. Now onto the bad. They only allow for Comcast for internet and TV. The power also isn’t very clean, so you may need a surge protector for computers and such. During the fall, stink bugs are everywhere, and like to die between the window and the window screen. Some of the apartments have an older style sliding door out the back that likes to stick when you open or close it. The oven and the fridge are a bit small, and the stovetop only has one large eye. The dishwasher is very loud and shakes the floor. All three of the appliances are at least a bit outdated. My bathroom’s tub is also old and is a bit of a pain to keep clean. When I first got my apartment, there were some stains in the carpet and some pen on the inside of some cabinets. I understand that this happens as the apartment ages, but it might upset some other people. The living room does not have a ceiling light, so you must provide your own lamps if that bothers you. All other rooms have celling lights, and there’s a switch that turns one of the outlets in the living room on and off. If you plug your lamps into there, they can act like a normal light, just be sure not to plug your router into it! For most people, they’ll never have this last problem that I’ve had. March 2020 there was a bad storm, and the roof over the middle two units of the building I’m in was destroyed. One of the inner units was already empty, but the other had a resident who had to move out. The two outer units are still occupied. Since the tree hit edit: 1 year ago, the middle two units have been without a roof. I’m attaching two pictures to my review that show 1yr & 6months ago. Both pictures show that the middle two units only have a tarp covering them. Of course, 1 year of no roof have caused some damage. I’m attaching two more photos showing the inside of the apartments that I got by looking through the back window of each. Both have mold inside, and one has a hole in the ceiling. I have spots on my ceiling where it attaches with the empty unit, and I’m attaching pictures showing this damage to my ceiling and floor. When I brought this up with the office, they covered the middle apartments with more tarps. There was also a period where I had mice in my apartment, and my guess is that they came from the empty units. Pest control was unable to enter the middle apartments due to their condition. I asked a few times about when the complex would be fixing the roofs, and last I heard, they were still waiting on bids to come in. I believe there have been two times that someone has looked at the roof, but I have no idea when it will be fixed. Of course, there is a possibility a date has been set, but I have not been informed. 1 year and still no fix."
