"I don’t even know where to start. I’m new to the area and applied along with toured multiple properties and this home was instantly my safe home feeling. I asked soo many questions on a daily through phone and email and Hannah answered them quick and very helpful. The property was clean and nice, very updated. They had me approved within 30 minutes!"
"Full Disclosure: this is not a review of 'The Dylan' as it currently exists, but rather, it's a review/retrospective of its former life as 'Havenwood' when I lived there 11 years ago...just for anyone curious of what this complex used to be like. For this reason, my 5-star review is a generic placeholder, as it would be unfair of me to grade this complex as it stands today under different ownership and recent remodeling (that was much needed and looks great, btw!). Anyway... A dose of nostalgia and curiosity hit me late last night, and I decided to Google my very first apartment when I started college at MTSU a little over a decade ago. It was fall 2012, and at that time, Havenwood was owned and managed by Haynes Manor a short ways up the road. If you want to know was this complex used to be like, drive through Hayne's Manor and you'll get a pretty good idea fairly quickly. My apartment was what's now known as the 'St. James,' a one bedroom, 700 sq ft unit with the same layout as the example shown on The Dylan's website. At that point in time, I don't believe this apartment had ever been renovated since it was constructed in the 70s or 80s outside of paint and carpet..and maybe the kitchen linoleum. It was straight out of the 1980s down to old school cabinetry and appliances. The smell was also a collection of three or four decades of mustiness and cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking unit when I lived there. My experience here wasn't terrible (although I did NOT like living alone here...first time out of the house by myself at only 18 years old). I recall my water heater going out shortly before I moved, and the sliding glass door did not lock. Maintenance never fixed it, so I had to keep a wooden pole wedged at the bottom, hoping that would be enough to keep someone from breaking in. Oh, and the train tracks nearby. Good lord above, that thing was loud, especially in the middle of the night. I will say, though... rent was dirt cheap compared to today. It looks like this apartment is leasing for $1,350/month today. I paid around $450/month...only 11 years ago. I guess the flood of people moving to Nashville has officially overflowed into the suburbs, causing rent to skyrocket. That's a real shame. I am glad to see that the current ownership had the decency to renovate these units and isn't charging this high amount with the apartments still in their pre-renovated state, but that also gets to much of the point of writing this review. I've added a few pictures of what my old apartment looked like 'then.' It's obviously changed quite a bit, but for $1,350/month, do note that you are paying for an apartment that was at the lower tier of apartment complexes on the Murfreesboro area not too long ago, and the quality of tenants likely reflected it. It was old, musty, and I definitely had some real characters as neighbors. I thankfully never had any problems with them, but I wouldn't doubt at all nefarious things were probably going on in neighboring units. I'll leave you as the reader to imagine what those things were... Oh, and for the record, I would probably leave two stars if I was rating Havenwood as it was 11 years ago. I won't leave that rating now as things have obviously changed quite a bit, but that would be in-line with my feelings of the place back then."
"Wonderful staff, great amenities, nice community, clean, and over all very comfortable. Management/Office staff are always extremely helpful, professional, and friendly! Maintenance is super understanding, fast, and get the jobs done in a wonderful manner. Wouldn’t change anything about it here. Can’t wait for the fitness center remodel to be finished!"
"We recently applied & were approved. The process was fast, easy to understand & I couldn’t be more excited to move into our new home. The whole experience was so positive because of Cam, our leasing agent. She has one of the most infectious smiles & optimistic attitudes. She was able to be friendly, funny & relatable all while remaining professional. I felt like I was talking with a long time friend. If you ever get a chance to meet her, you’ll want to live here just for the sheer fact that you know she has your best interest at heart. Can’t wait to call The Dylan home! ☺️"
