"Kim took over my old dentists clients after he retired a few years ago. My wife and I won’t be returning. He told her she needed THREE crowns, costing thousands of dollars and pain. My wife went to get two other recommended and reputable dentists opinions, and none diagnosed her needing a single crown. I understand mistakes can happen, but after reading the other reviews I’m not sure if our situation was an accident."
"Dr. Kim saved my smile… after failed previous efforts to fill a gap from a tooth that had to be removed, Dr. Kim was able to engineer a solution with a bridge that I didn’t think I wanted - but it’s exactly perfect and I couldn’t be happier. Janet and the whole office staff have been so helpful and compassionate, friendly and thorough. I look forward to years of healthy teeth with their help!"
"I appreciate the time these patients took to write their reviews. I now am going through the same thing. I too was receiving my care from the prior dentist at this practice. I WAS NEVER told that Sy Kim was out of my network. I had a copay for a routine cleaning I never should of had. I also payed $246 as a copay for “a filling”. It was not until I received my explanation of benefits from my insurance that I found out that he was out of my network. I received an additional bill for $217 from Sy Kim’s office. This was so upsetting! Upon talking to others they stated that other medical professionals are up front about letting a patient know wether they are out of network. I called the office. I was told someone would get back to me. No one did. I called today requesting a copy of my chart and I was told it would cost me $50. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I’m also filing a complaint/appeal with my insurance. I will contact whatever entity is needed to stop this from happening to other patients. This is as said above FRAUDULENT."
"In short: Conned. I was sent to collections for routine dental cleaning despite having insurance and having payed co-pays (read below for further detail). This is a terribly run practice and I would recommend you look elsewhere for dental care. Fuller detail: Let me preface this: I'm an ear, nose and throat surgeon. I deal with patients in a clinical setting all the time. I also deal with insurance providers. If I ever have a patient present to my clinic, my front-desk staff ALWAYS query the insurance to see if the patient is covered. If they are, they are told their co-pay up front. If not, they are told they will be self-pay and told how much this will be prior to the visit. Sy Kim's team took over my prior dentist's practice and overlooked an overbooked dental cleaning for my family, 3 in one year. They blamed us and prior practice for not recognizing this. Who wants three cleanings in a year? Not me. Instead of catching this at the front desk prior to care, they sent us a tremendous bill for a service we didn't need. While we tried to call their managerial team to sort this out, they sent us for collections saying they had exhausted "all means" of obtaining the money. I spoke with the collections agents and they agreed with my stance and THEY DROPPED THE CASE. Sy Kim -- via his team -- continued to press forward demanding the money with the threat of pursuing a second collections agency and legal fees. Of note, he refused any telephone or in-person conversation with me during this entire process. In conclusion: Sy Kim and his team demonstrated unethical, fraudulant, and down-right stupid patient care. From healthcare provider to healthcare provider, grow up and learn to take care of your patients."
"I was told they accepted my insurance but ended up getting a bill for a routine cleaning due to Kim not being contracted in network with my insurance. I then received a 90 day past due letter with a threat of sending me to collections 15 days after my appointment. Additionally, they billed my insurance for additional x rays with a different machine that were taken due to the tech not taking good X-rays on the first machine. When I called the office to discuss the situation they had no answers and would not let me speak to an office manager. Never have I ever received a bill for a routine cleaning, but most dentists don’t lie about accepting your insurance either."
