Reviews of The Grove at Hedgemoor Apartments
"Pretty awful apartment complex, poor management which has been unable to keep consistent property managers, A/C went out in the summer multiple times, cockroaches and other bug infestations, rude and loud neighbors drinking on a shared porch where kids live in the same building, MLGW almost turned the water off several times due to the apartment complex not paying THEIR bill. (Can google the news stories) trash piling up and never taken out, also tow trucks will threaten to tow your own car or outright tow it. The list goes on and on! Beware of this place."
"The most ghetto-ist , most disgusting apartment ever! Horrible management! I’ve lived here for 2 years (sadly) and there has been over 25+ new leasing managers. Horrible maintenance, everything breaks! Nothing is updated or newly remodeled! The safety gates are always broke and open! Pool is never clean.... over priced... bugs! DO NOT LIVE HERE!! There is also something sneaky going on, them losing your rent money & random charges to your account. Whatever you do, don’t sign your lease. It’s not worth it. Oh, and they also don’t pay their MLGW bill."
"If I could give a negative star I certainly would!!! This has been one nightmare after another. The first "manager" I met was India. She was new to the job and very unfriendly. She kind of gave me the impression that I was bothering her and she would rather be on her cell phone with her mama. When I entered the leasing office she was seated at her desk, she didn't attempt to stand and greet me either. She looked at me and said "Yeah" almost coldly. I thought her tune would change when she found out I wanted to apply for an apartment but it didn't however I still applied, paid the $25 application fee and left. India told me she would follow up with me the following day which she didn't and it was three days later when she returned my follow up call but I was approved so it was ok. The same days she called me with the approval she wanted me to come in with the $150 administrative fee which I did. The next day I called because we were supposed to sign the lease and pay the prorated rent of $485 which was ALARMING to me because it was the 20th of the month and that was more than half the amount of the rent. When I called I was greeted by Melissa the new manager! India had been fired I was told, Melissa was her replacement but she would need time to catch up on this, she asked me to call back the next week. She was nice enough to give me permission to get the lights on in my name to speed up the process. There had not been lights in that apartment in over a year and an inspection was required, which Melissa was very good at handling. She even emailed me to confirm our meeting and was most apologetic in my delays. I will say she was the most helpful manager of them all. Although it was evident that she had no experience she was willing to learn, and she was hired in the midst of what appears to be an embezzlement of money from two or three managers prior. Now why would a new tenant know about this? Because she so graciously shared all of their business with me. I should have ran away then but having paid my money I felt it too late. Move in day came on the 24th!! I went in office to meet Bob whom never bothered to introduce himself but I think he may of had ownership or interest of some sort I would find out later. I arrived in the midst of their power being disconnected for nonpayment I overheard his phone conversation with the light company on his cell. Bob informed me that he was unable to print my lease and asked me to change my move in date to Friday. Bob did however assure me that he had been down to my apartment and the maintenance was doing a wonderful job he noted of getting everything ready for my move in. I was receiving stainless steel appliances which was an upgrade to my apartment for my troubles. Move in day again came it was now the 26th. I arrived to meet Bret! He introduced himself as a part owner/manager. Bob was out of town and Bret initially told me to come back when Bob returned which is next week sometime but he wasn't sure. I displayed my frustration and Bret hesitantly called Bob who confirmed that it was my move in. Bob informed Bret to complete my move in. Bret asked Bob was my apartment ready and Bob said he believed it was yes. We signed the paper work, I paid the money owed. Bret didn''t feel that being that it was now the 26th of the month I should not have to pay the original prorated amount and he was able to work it out where my money order would be split for two payments, i would pay $145 for rest of the days in this month at the remainder would apply to next month's rent. He called Bob who informed him he didn't know where the key was, he has never been to the apartment so he was no sure. But wait didn't Bob tell me he was at my apartment and pointed out that the maintenance was doing a beautiful job getting it ready? That turned out to be one huge LIE!! As of today I am still in a hotel out of all this money and my lights are on in an apartment that has had trash in it for over a year."
"This has been a nightmare since the new owner took over, Grounds look terrible as they are unable to pay for lawn service, trash is all over the grounds, and management is a joke. There have been no less than 6 managers in the last 12 months. It doesn't help that the new owner is trying to falsely pump up his rent roll with month to month tenants without screening. My air conditioner has been out for a month with promises of " we will get someone down there in a few minutes" over and over again. Do yourself a favor unless you are one that could benefit from no screening and a month to month arrangement, go elsewhere. You can't say you weren't warned."
"I stayed here for about a year and a half. The first year of my lease was pretty great, hence why I renewed. But the 2nd year, new management took over and it went downhill. I broke my lease early due to the steady decline of the apartments. They began offering a month to month leasing option which turned the quality of residents (proper screening, etc) into a nightmare. Also, a high turnover rate in the leasing office resulted in issues never being resolved. I am still waiting on my refund from my security deposit, 6 months later. Every time I call, they said they will research and get back to me -____- The only positive about the apartments is the location is ideal. But do not expect much more."
