Reviews of VA Outpatient Clinic Annex Radiology/Optometry
"Still waiting on Moutain home to schedule a procedure to clean my husbands cataract lens cleaning! He can’t see and VA optometry said they would schedule and call us after his eye exam. We’ve heard nothing! William Lyman"
"I have tried 3 times over the last two years to walk in at the optical annex. Not needing an exam, just to order a pair of glasses. The first two times I went they were open and there was no one there to help me. I waited for bout 30 minutes both times for someone to return before I left. It wasn't lunch time, it was mid morning and mid afternoon. I asked the other receptionist window if they knew where the optical team was and they didn't know. Yesterday I took time off work to try again at 10:15 in the morning. They were open. There was someone at the window. He let me wait for 6 minutes before sliding the window open and asking what I wanted. I told him all I needed was to pick out a frame and that I had an active prescription. He said to come back at 1:00 that afternoon. I asked if that was an appointment because as I understood it, they don't make appointments. He said no, that they didn't have time for me then and maybe they would after lunch. I had already taken off an hour from work to get there and couldn't make it back at 1:00. I guess they expect that everyone coming there is retired and has time to wait around all day. Very poorly run. Just shut it down and give a stipend for glasses at local eye care centers that are competent. This place is worthless."
"I came in with a DAV driver. My appt was quick but the other veteran was still waiting to be seen. We were sitting in waiting area and unpolitely asked to leave. That we couldnt wait for him in the waiting room. She's lucky my appt wasnt with her because she would have gotten an ear full and I would have filed a congressional and had everyone above her explaining why she was still employed. Most useless bunch I have ever seen. The VA in Miami is 20x busier and not a bunch of - - - -!"
"I was at the Knoxville VA Annex today to see Optometry to have my new glasses adjusted. While waiting to be called (it's a walk in service) there was a veteran who was seen in the Radiology dept. This veteran went to the clerk at the window to complete his travel and explained to Robin that he didn't have his reading glasses so she would either need to assist him with filling out the form or he would have to take it and find some help. Her reply to him was "I am not filling it out so you will have to take it". At that point I looked over and he had the clipboard in his hand and a pen kind of came flying out of the window. Then she closed the window and pulled the shutters. The veteran stood around at the other clerks window for a couple of minutes (was ignored). I then helped him fill out the form. It took about a minute. First why take travel off the kiosk as it used to be. Second, what is up with the clerks? Are their jobs not to assist veterans? If it weren't for veterans there would be no need for clerks. Very unhappy with this event!"
"I was a walk-in. I waited 20 minutes and went to the optometry reception desk to ask them how long the wait would be. The guy at the desk barely opened his window and acted like I was a huge inconvenience to him. He has the personality of a bowling ball. Needs some remedial training on customer service. He wouldn’t have a job if not for us."
